I've had quite a time getting this beautiful Spellbinders panel die to play nicely. An exchange with my friend Leslie caused me to cut it until I found the perfect sandwich - the method isn't my own someone on Instagram shared it months ago! Your sandwich might be a little different - here's mine:
- Bottom plate of my Big Shot Plus - the Chrome plate works, too
- A panel of bubble-wrap postal packaging - I've just used some from an
- order I'd just received.
- Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock - cut just a little larger than the die
- Spellbinders' Scroll Pierce and Punch die
- Top plate and passed through forwards, turned, passed back through
It worked so well that the middle panel just fell out!
Here is a closeup to give you an idea of how clean it cut!
Phew - I was this close to throwing in the towel!

Oooh, I like this plate with the way you can pop up the center. Gorgeous golden anniversary card! Interesting to use the bubble wrap. Many dies have different needs for cutting. Embossing folders can be finicky, too. All the different makers. When I find the perfect sandwich I slip a note inside the folder with the recipe so I don't have to reinvent the wheel each time. Stunning! What amazing and intricate die, and I'm sure it was a booger to get clean cuts and clean out all those tiny remnants but this is wonderful. I'm not sure I have the type of bubble wrap you're talking about but I definitely want to try this.

Lovely! We, and several other friends, got married in 1973….oh, my, another world and time away! We’re all staring at that golden 50th anniversary. Beautiful, card from my side definitely worth the effort you put into it cutting. See if you can exchange it, it shouldn't need such a effort to cut nicely.
So glad that you got the result you did, the card is amazing and so is that die! It's this style of dies that made me turn to the dark side (Gemini lol) and I have less trouble with them now, though this one is hugely intricate!
Sorry you missed the challenge, Michele. Your 50th card is absolutely gorgeous. I can just imagine the trouble it took to get all those little pieces to cut and then to clean them from the die. Thanks for sharing your solution.
Not sure how I missed this beauty Michele, but it is absolutely GORGEOUS!! So glad you figured out how to cut that die as it's absolutely stunning with all that detail!! I had heard from one of the PFS girls about using bubble wrap (or the mailers they use to ship orders in) with intricate dies and it worked beautifully for me with the rounded braided rectangle dies...definitely a good tip to remember!! Hope you find someone that's reached that golden milestone anniversary so you can send this lovely, lovely card out...waaaaaaaay too pretty to leave sitting in a box! Hugs. :0)
Thank you for the tips as my new spellbinders infinity punch and pierce oval die is a nightmare and I nearly binned it so will definitely be giving this a go. I have to say the hard work paid off as it's stunning. You are quite the temptress as I have splurgred on quite a few items after seeing your beautiful creations and I'm sure I will be trying to locate the dies for this card especially now I have the correct sandwhich.

I love all of that amazing stitched detail with the gold. The flowers just done in gold with a hint of shading are the perfect detail on top of it.
Tis the season for weddings Michele! I love this gorgeous wedding/anniversary card. I wish I we had made it to 50 years, but sadly that wasn't in the cards for us. Spellbinders had gorgeously intricate dies and getting the sandwich can be tricky to get them to cut all the way. Each person's machine is different too, so it takes some finagling to get it right. You have found the magic sandwich as yours has cut beautifully! I love that cover plate, love that frame and I so love those flowers outlines in gold and then the shading on each bloom. Definitely gorgeous! Hugs, Brenda
Oh wow, look at all the holes in that die! I'm afraid my patience would be too thin for that, but you've persevered and created a fabulous card!
