Just us Girls #678 a Color Challenge

I'm back to share a floral card which I made using this gorgeous duo of colors from JUGS Color Week #678.  Thanks, Nancy, for such a pretty combo!

Here are the inks I used with Altenew's Build-a-Flower Ranunculus:

I skipped the first of the layers in the set to allow for nice bright white highlights on their petals.  I like the little leaves in the set but they don't include a stem, so I used them to create a strip of patterned paper to adorn the inside edge of my card and used a small scalloped-edged die* to nip a bit off of the front of my card to let it show!

While the inks were out, I thought I'd try my hand at a pink and yellow bird, too!  I use my finger daubers to add color to the base stamp.  This way I could keep the colors from mixing to peach.

Isn't she pretty perched on that sentiment.  I lost a very dear friend last week and this is one of many cards that will go to her daughter to comfort her as her mom fought for years with quiet courage.

I love the 'window' in this Spellbinders' 3D Four Petal Floral embossing folder!

Thanks for stopping by - I'd better get one of these into the JUGS gallery before I miss the window of opportunity!  Which one would you choose?

=] Michele

*MFT Scalloped stitched edge - very old!

Your flower card is SO pretty Michele and I love that you skipped the first layer to let more white show through...going to have to remember that trick as I love the look! Love the black and white inside edge too...lovely, lovely card! I also LOVE your bird card! Colored just beautifully with the pinks and yellows and surrounded by that beautiful sentiment and all the lovely white embossing! (Can you bring that folder the next time you come pretty please??) Those ranunculus look very special with their white highlights. love how you have added interest with the black leaves and curved scalloped edge. Brilliant. Your second card is just so cute, what a wonderful embossing folder and your little pink and yellow bird is quite unique xx

Your flowers are the perfect choice for the challenge (I peeked to see which card you entered). Loving those neutral leaves which are also lovely as a border. Of course, my heart is with that pretty bird and deeply embossed frame. Both your cards are a treat!

Michele, I was distracted and forgot to tell you how sorry I am about your friend. I don't have a sister so my girlfriends are very special to me. I'm sure you feel the same.

Beautiful -- both of them! Loved to see the arched scalloped die used on the first; but your second card stole my heart with your winged beauty! That's my choice and I'm sticking to it lol

First off Michele, I am so sorry to hear you lost a dear friend. It's is never easy losing someone who is near and dear to us. Your card is gorgeous, calming and perfect. I pray that it brings comfort to the daughter. You did a fabulous job with your little bird, I just love him/her perched on the sentiment like that. I am also loving the embossing folder too! Your first card is just beautiful as well. I am loving the "white" space, such an uncluttered look and eye catching as well. Your hand stamped created strip of paper is perfect for peaking out! Love, love, love! Hugs, Brenda

The pink and yellow Ranunculus are gorgeous, Michele! Clever not to use the first layer of the stencils for the white highlights! Love your pretty DIY pattern paper.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. Her daughter will cherish the bird card made with love.

I love the scalloped edge treatment on your roses card, and that little bird is the sweetest, and a lovely sympathy card. Both beauties.

As a result of this beautiful card I purchased the embossing folder whilst I was in the UK so thank you for the inspiration. Your pretty and beautifully coloured bird along with poignant sentiment work so beautifully together without overshadowing each other.
