EBE Amaryllis - in a window!

It was high time I brought out the gorgeous EBE Mondo Amaryllis, and die once again.  It is among my favorites from Julie's Mondo collection of blooms!

It may not be clear to see in this first photo,
but the front of my card has a window!
Here's a little closeup:

Our family of Bluebirds have nearly cleaned the berries
from the Winterberry bushes outside my studio!

When creating a window as I have done, it's
imperative to remember the backside of the
die cut will be seen - if I had Copic-colored,
instead of water-colored my Amaryllis, the ink may have bled through.  In this case, I would have simply backed the bloom with another die cut layer of cardstock.

It's also important to remember you might see the inside sentiment through the window.  I've ridden myself of that concern by making a home for my sentiment  from a folded piece of patterned paper - also cut with the arched shape.  This selection called Log Cabin, from Honey Bee, is double-sided - it just keeps getting better as the card is opened!

By the way, I created my window using Waffle Flower Crafts  Nested Domes dies.  It's so simple - just ease the cutting edge over the fold of your card base, several passes through your die-cutting machine should cut it cleanly.

The window frame is cut using two dies:

Then, simply stack this sandwich over the card base, matching the edges - mind the folded edge - and run it through your machine again.  Voila!
Attach your bloom of choice onto the front frame - I used thin foam squares, strategically positioned so they don't show on the inside of my card.

I hope my card will encourage you to play with those neglected blooms - even when there aren't blooms outside your window...it is a wonderful way to get through Winter!  I'm going to send this one over to The Flower Challenge who are looking for shaped cards this month!

What a well thought out design and thank you for the tips along the way. Amaryllis are among my favourites and I always have the red cut ones in my house at Christmas...I love them and I love your card too x.

What a beautiful and elegant card Michele! Oh my are those flowers ever pretty and I love the soft buttery color you've given them! I don't have anything blooming outside my window. But I do have a bunny who visits our backyard every night. I've been leaving him little treats ~ bits of carrots, celery or radish leaves...he's (or is it she?) a cutie!

Dome mind me saying, that one amazing dome card! All of the patterns and textures play so well together, and I love the way you hid the sentiment! Someone sent us an amaryllis for Christmas and it was the first time we had one. We got such a kick out of watching it grow each day and bloom! They really are an amazing flower, and so is yours!
