Color Hues #54 Navy and Cream

I know this is the second time today that I've insinuated myself into your space, but a funny thing happened on the way to addressing envelopes: I fell short of the number needed!!  Yikes!  Back to the drawing board!

I couldn't help stamping a few more of these darling deer - why not take advantage of a fun challenge from our hostess, Karen, at Color Hues?  Navy and Cream sounds magical to me!

SSS Ivory cardstock, and a very light inking of this PTI Dear to Me stag.
He's hiding among two Sizzix/TH Woodlands trees and under
some jellyroll twinkling stars!

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!  I'll be finishing those cards!

Color Hues #53

As I sat on the floor looking through my Christmas supplies for a little star I came upon this cute little stamp set - from Pinkfresh* long retired from their shop.  I have a sweet friend who just loves Winter and all that entails - like snow and skiing.  Each Christmas I try to make her a card that she can relate to.  I can relate to the last skier - I never got off of the bunny hill - or the mouse hill for that matter.  I barely made it onto the tow rope... my mittens made it up to the top before me.

Before it goes in the mailbox, I'm sharing it with Color Hues #53 and Julie B's pick of scarlet and green [by way of The Stamp Market's Cherry Kisses and Concord & 9th's Parsley]

Playing Cards with my Color Hues Friends!

I have the best fun to share:  I invited the entire Color Hues team to Play Cards with me this month!!  They said YES!!  Truly something to celebrate!!

But the fun continues, because I get to invite ALL of YOU to Play Cards, too!!  Can you dig it??  So here is our assignment, and yours:

  • Red [white] and Blue
  • Stars or Stripes [can be from patterned papers!]
  • Embellishments of any kind i.e. alphas, numbers, bling, etc.
Here is how I brought the assignment together:

I've used patterned paper to die-cut my stars whose patterns are laid out in rows [or stripes], embellished with lots of little die-cut stars from the same papers, and even got the ol' sewing machine out!

I hope you'll join us!  Right now, I can't wait another moment to see the teams' cards at Color Hues - they always blow me away with their creativity!  Let's go!!

Color Hues #30 Silver and Gold

Hello, my friends!  I was delighted by the happy news from a friend telling me I'd had a win over at Color Hues with my orange and brown card!  I couldn't have made that card without a little corny help from another friend - thank you, Michelle!

So with joy in my heart, I sat right down to make another entry!  Carol gave us the most Seasonally appropriate color scheme this time:

I took those colors down a different path...

... armed with these Copics:

I gave this gorgeous Penny Black character a gold hat and scarf,
and gloves with a silvery grey coat!  [which I'd totally wear!]
First, it was stamped in Copic friendly ink, of course, then I gave her a bit
of a gloomy snowy day - and added a bit of cross-hatching for interest with a grey Prismacolor pencil.  I'm getting quite daring adding those little bits of script, right?
All restamped with WOW embossing ink, and heat embossed with Ranger fine detail silver, and gold embossing powder.

Okay.  It was not complete without one silver, and one gold, snowflake!  This may be my favorite of all the Christmas cards I've made this year!  Thanks, Carol!

Color Hues #28 Red and Kraft!

I may have mentioned how much I adore kraft and red at Christmas - add natural creamy paper with those little fibers in it and I'm especially happy!

Here is my 'everything very old is new again' card:

MFT Die-namics wreath die c. 2010?  Paper: Teresa Collins Candy Cane Lane c. 2014
a sweet little set of sentiments that was part of a gift from MFT when the Three Amigos visited them in Florida!  and a hand-me-down set from CP from my friend Kristie!
Wreath, and bows cut from Desert Storm, and stamped with CP peppermint scrub.
Altenew Red Cosmos set of enamel dots
W&W Noelle die for that sweet little panel

Isn't this paper so hoardable lovely?

Thanks for the visit!!

Color Hues #27 - Orange and Green!

Orange and green?  It couldn't be a more perfect choice for Fall at Color Hues!

I had a little play with another new layering set from Altenew:
Fresh Bloom, and dies.
I love that its layers leave a few white highlights!

The inks I used today are from a set called Goldfish Tails!

This one had an additional layer of brown that may have disqualified it,
but I wanted to share it just the same:

When Fall comes, I turn to these colors naturally - so naturally I had to play along!

Supplies:
Altenew Fresh Bloom combo, Goldfish Tail ink set, Rounded Rectangle frames, Leafy Garden die, and Dotted Swirls cover plate.

One year Anniversary!

Time sure does fly when we're having fun!!  Speaking of - CONGRATULATIONS to Nancy and her wonderful team at Color Hues!!  There's even a new kid on the block!  Welcome aboard, Tracey!  I couldn't help but reach for some leaves - you'll remember why, I'm sure of it! [although you'll have to wait a few days for my favorite Lawn Fawn ones - wink!]

Here's my card in all the shades of Yellow and Orange I could muster
on these tiny little leaves!

A gift from a sweet friend, this frame is one piece: two frames, and all of these wonderful tiny leaves!
It even adds the embossed decorative edge - BONUS it also includes a stencil to color it!
I've set it atop one of my 'mop up' backgrounds made with another stencil in my stash.

Color Hues #17 - Red & Orange

There was not one bit of doubt in my mind that I'd be playing along with those fab designers at Color Hues this week -  I LOve the combination of red, and orange!

DT Hannelie's card inspired me to get out some of the awesome card stock I have on hand - these from The Stamp Market, worked beautifully with my Climber Flowers set from Altenew - which seems to be climbing beautifully on their Grid Cover Die - thank you, to one of my generous friends for that die!  Ready for my card?  Here she is...

Two very bright and wonderful inks came together for my sentiment -
this one from Pinkfresh's Lush Greenery set...

Okay.  I'd better get back to my regularly scheduled 'loads' of Monday fun!  Thanks Color Hues for featuring colors I love!

Can anyone imagine that I wouldn't play with this challenge?
Any color combo that includes GREY is going on my list!
Thanks , Color Hues #16!

Almost completely die* cut?  even better!

Just a little closeup so you can see the next debossed panel my friend Kim
shared with me in our swap!

Hope you week has had a great start!

Just another Friday Fun-day!

I'm not going to lie, my friends - this has been a lost week, since my second vaccine on Wednesday!  But today, I'm feeling a bit better, and very, very glad that I had so much fun on Monday & Tuesday to share here on Friday!

Here are the first makes since I received my first order from PinkFresh Studios' Washi release... first time out of the package, just the way it was intended, by adhering my Anemone Magic washi to cardstock [I cut mine 4 x 9"] and die-cutting with the amazing die that cuts ALL of the images at once!  I love the water-colored look of these washi tapes!

Next up, stamped and Copic colored using the coordinating Anemone Magic stamp set...

It's quite subtle but look closely and you'll see that I've used one of the
PinkFresh Studio Argyle stencils to emboss my card panel.  Then added a little smooshed leftover Distress ink, a few splatters, and their wonderful jewels for interest.  My sentiment comes from
PinkFresh Studio's Floral Notes - more on that beauty another day.

Here is a little trick that was shared recently on one of the PFS LIVEs...
using the LID of my MISTI to pick up those really big stamps works
great - but be sure to anchor it well, so you can re-stamp if necessary.

Color Hues is asking for black and white this week -  I've chosen
my favorite Black Licorice ink for stamping, and added interest
with another of their wonderful stand-alone dies - Braided Tags.

I popped my black & white Anemones onto two layered tags.
By the way, there's nothing that says one cannot partially die cut
with that big ol' die!

Okay, my friends - that was a lengthy post for my foggy brain!  Thanks for hanging in there with me!!  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Brown & Pink and Navy & Turquoise!

I'm back again with, as my title suggests, lots of color - which is a challenge for me in itself!

The Flower Challenge is looking for Brown & Pink

That color combo reminded me of all the wonderful Hydrangea I've dried over the years!  Here are some from last year!

Guess what came out to play?  Of course it had to be my
EBE Mondo Hydrangea!  she is my most favorite
of all the Mondo flowers!

Stamped in GinaK's Skeleton Leaves amalgam ink, and water colored with Arteza markers, with a bit of pencil detailing.
Here's a little closeup:

and the supplies I used:

Next up ... my entry for Color Hues #2 . They're looking for shades of  Navy and Turquoise !  I've been saving this little tweet-y [borrowed from a friend - thanks Marcia] for the perfect occasion... also the perfect occasion to use this trick for adding texture to your Copic colored images from Kathy Racoosin ... it added the most wonderful wooly texture, don't you think?

All it takes is a tiny bit of colorless blending solution on
a bit terry cloth - this is the tiny square Kathy handed
out to us at MFT at a class I attended there
with Nancy Leppek and Bobby Hagen!

Happy weekend-eve my friends!  Hope your plans include lots of fun, and a bit of crafting!

Before anyone asks... the embossing on my card is just one folder from many in a wonderful gift, from a fabulous friend who prefers to remain anonymous!  Thank you SO very much!!!  I LOVE the perfect branches for my little feathered friend!
