My Glimmer machine continues to reside deep in my closet. I have gifted many of foiling plates, there are several packages on my 'de-stash' page, but nary a nibble. Honestly, there are a few that would just break my heart to part with... among them some gorgeous tulips from Spellbinder's and Alex Syberia Designs and since there is no help on the horizon, what does a girl do with all of those foiling plates?
When all else fails, try something different.
By using them as embossing plates then I can still use the coordinating stencils, too! Here are the results - just in case you'd like to try it, too.
I used a heavy cotton paper for my A2 card base then embossed
the front with this beauty: Wonderful Tulips from Spellbinder's.
A simple sentiment from PTI's Keep it Simple: Friendship set.
Alex Syberia's Tulips Treasure will stay with me no matter what - I can always take it and my foil to Marcia's - right? Funny thing is we bought our Glimmer machines on the same day - both from Hobby Lobby, and we were SO excited to heat them up! Marcia had perfect results from the start - I stumbled to get anything but mediocre results very quickly.
Here is the result of using one of the ASD tulips from her Tulip Treasures and the coordinating stencils.
AND the reason I chose these colors? I do love a two-tone tulip and spotted these in Claire's mood board at The Paper Players this week:
One day someone will figure out a way to make them useable for letterpress - wish it was me. But I'm pretty happy with the results of my trial today - a little fun between loads is always welcome!

The Glimmer plates make for pretty embossing. I wonder if they would press using ink instead of foil? I may give that a try. Your tulips are beautiful, my friend! You are the Tulip Queen!
Oh Michele, both of these cards are absolutely beautiful!!
These are both just beautiful! Perfect spring blooms! I am no help on glimmer machines, sorry! It's all I can do to stamp a sentiment straight!
I'm so sorry your Glimmer isn't doing well, Michele. It Yo a while for me to get mine to loosen up enough to pull out of the dock. You definitely made lemonade out of lemons by using the plates to emboss and your tulips turned out lovely.
That's a great idea and it looks fabulous. Sorry about the slow take up on your destash. I would have been in there if only I didn't live over here (mind you, listening to the news tonight, I am glad I do live over here!). I know someone who uses her foil plates as press plates all the time. I haven't tried it myself - yet. xx
