Between my car issues, the unpredictable Michigan weather, and illness, it took Marcia and I many trips to our calendars to reschedule our first crafty day of 2025 - believe me it is really hard not to see her 'for reals' for this long! But we finally DID IT! And I'm here to share what I made when I got home. Hey, we're having way too much fun to actually MAKE cards while together! lol
Marcia has so many sets that I adore. I reached for this one: Pretty Blossoms from Pinkfresh Studios that stamps an entire card front which is stenciled and then die cut... hello, gorgeous garden!
A fun stamped, embossed, and die cut hello from Honeybee's Thinking of You Big Time
Backed by an embossed piece from Spellbinders Leafy.
Marcia's generosity blows me away - when I arrived, she had a nice little gift bag of goodies from Penny Black's Brushstroke style red-rubber cling stamps AND a set of Tombow's watercolor markers - they've been on my radar for ages!
Now, I have a LONG way to go, and lots of practice to do but here are my very first two cards! [as always, Jill Foster's videos on YouTube really helped - getting the perfect amount of water misted is so hard!] My husband said this one is a keeper - who am I to argue? I have just the perfect friend for it, too! Meet The Sweetest Sound...
Waffle Flower Crafts: Rectangle Frames that I've painted with Tambi gold
Here's another that was inspired by the Double D Bird Challenge and mood board:
Penny Black: Alight, Loving Friend sentiment, Linked embossing and Frame It frame die!
Between Distress minis and the new markers, I was very happy with this one!
Of course, we had to have one image stamped for us each to have our way with! This is PFS Heart of Gold - I've turned my lemons into LIMES!
When I went to remove the image, I realized that it hadn't die cut
properly - oh well. I rather like the unintended results!
I love this pretty Powder blue card from Concord & 9th - especially embossed
with my old go-to EF from SU: Tasteful Textile. A few PFS gems and it was complete!
Marcia had a pot of Taco soup brewing for lunch - delish! The butterscotch cheesecake was pretty delectable, too! [Wasn't Tom nice to share? LOL of course I let him think I made it for him!]
Getting to spend time with my sweet friend is always worth the wait - however, I hope we don't have to wait that long for the next time, Marcia! Thanks so much for your wonderful hospitality and friendship! I am hurrying over to see what you created 'behind my back!'

All 4 are absolutely GORGEOUS Michele! Your Pretty Blossoms card is so pretty with all the bright colors and says Hello SPRING to me...love it!! And the 2 birdie cards you made from PB came out beautifully for never having tried that technique before! Tom was right and they are both "keepers"!! And I love that you made your last card a "lime" card instead of a lemon card! Love how you incorporated the one part that didn't cut with the textured background too...perfection my friend!! I'm so glad we finally found a day that worked for both of us to get together...I always feel like I've gotten my "fix" to tide me over till the next time we meet! And tell Tom thanks again for sharing his dessert with me...I loved every delicious bite!! Thanks again too for sharing all your stamps and dies with me to play with, but most of all a BIG thanks for your friendship...I treasure it my friend!! Hugs. :0)
Yes, Marcia does have some beautiful things in her toybox, and these PF flowers are a fabulous example! How wonderful to stencil and cut all at once for a whole gorgeous background. Marcia surely did gift you generously. She knew you would master the brushstroke stamps just as you do everything you try. These birds turned out amazing, especially for a first try. I'm sure the misting is a delicate operation, trying to get it just right. Finally, your limes with the bird, sigh... I adore that card! So delicate and pretty on the pale blue textured background and partial die cut. Next time you'll be ready with a shim, but this looks absolutely brilliant! Oh, and I know you'll find those Tombows very useful. They've been my go-to for years, whether for watercolor or with my homemade blender. Thanks for all this beauty today, Michele!
I'm so glad you could finally get together with Marcia, Michele! It looks like you had a very productive day that you could both make so many pretty cards from that day. I love how the flowers on the first card cover the whole front! What a great set! Both of the bird cards are awesome. Sweetest sound is one of my favorites and I love that the Alight bird worked so beautifully for that red head! You have inspired me to try Tombow markers again. Your last card is so pretty with that textured soft blue background! I love how you cut it whether it was intentional or not! I hope you don't have to wait so long for another playdate!
What a productive time you are having. All 4 of these cards are fabulous and your water colouring is very special too. I think your practice is paying off xx
ALL the cards are absolutely gorgeous, how fabulous you two could get together again, I always enjoy both your posts about what you two have been up to! The food sounds amazing too, I was just thinking my partner in crime "Darlene" hasn't been her to visit and play in 7 years, I can't believe it has been that long but my dog Mack is 7 and I know she has never met him! Anyhow, beautiful, beautiful cards, I am always in 'awe' of all your creations! Now if Michigan would just bring us a REAL Spring, we would all be happy!!
I'm glad you framed 'The Sweetest Sound', Michele, because it is a work of art. I know there's a knack to those red rubber stamps but you conquered it. Now I see what you mean about you having a red-headed woodpecker too. He looks fantastic perched on that berry branch. The blue textured background is lovely with those limes and the sweet bluebird. You and Marcia got a lot done and I'm so glad you could finally get together.
All of your creations are gorgeous!! How fun sharing craft time with a good friend. Both of you ladies are so talented. I love the pretty flowered stencil design and the water color effect on the bird cards. Your entry for the Double D Bird challenge is amazing. Those berries.... Thanks for playing along!
Thanks for the lovely comment on my card - nice to see your bird card next to mine over at Double D. I agree with your husband that the bird card is a keeper. You did such a great job on the birds and blossom, and the gold frame is perfect around them. Love all the other cards too!
So fun catching up with a good friend! Your cards turned out beautifully too. That was a win-win day
I couldn't wait to hear about your playdate with Marcia and you didn't disappoint! Fantastic projects and I'm impressed with the brushstroke pair of birds. Reminds me of a scroll and it's set off beautifully with that "bamboo" frame! Thanks for sharing!
What a beautiful friendship you have! I'm SO happy you were finally able to get together and play. The cards you made are simply stunning my friend. Wow. I never cease to be awed by the beauty you create. Thank you so much for sharing.
Wow! All four of these cards are stunning!!! I love how the flowers on the first card fill the front of the card, with the embossing peeking through from behind. I love the colors you used too. Both of your water colored bird cards came out smashing! I especially love the red headed bird. So gorgeous. The design of your last card I thought was intentional and I love it! What a happy mistake that it didn't cut all the way through. I really like the white space to give the sentiment a place to rest. So glad you and Marcia were finally able to have a get together. It looks like your time together was definitely productive and fun.
Always fun to see what you and Marcia create on your "playdates". These are all gorgeous. Your watercoloring looks great on the two bird cards, really like the framed Alight bird card. The last one is my favorite with that pretty lt. blue background. Your lunch sounds delicious too. Maybe it won't be too long when you can get together again. Have a great weekend.
I do love the results of your playdates with Marcia! Gosh, these are all just marvelous, Michele!
Lucky you having the playdate. I especially love the pale blue and bird card. It's sure gorgeous.
Beautiful cards, Michele, and a sweet, fun time! I'm so glad you guys get together, just maybe once again for me someday... Again, your cards are just amazing
Ooh, some beauties from this trip! My birder hubby loves the two bluebirds as do I. Perfect misting.
I can just picture your playdate with Marcia, you lucky ducks. What gorgeous makes! Spring has definitely sprung on that first one! So light and beautiful! Very uplifting. Now I wish the weather would match it! The birds are breathtaking. I love the loose watercoloring. I need to check out those videos. You know I am watercolor-phobic in terms of my confidence. However you made a die cutting error on the ,ast one, it looks marvelous and intended. Make sure you remember how you did that! A bunch of beauties. I'll bet lunch was warm and wonderful too!
