Freshly Made Sketches #638

If you have that Spellbinders Fresh Anemone set, you know that the dies cut in sets of three - you know me well enough to know that there is no flower left behind from my playtime yesterday!

I'll be sending this one over to Freshly Made Sketches #638 - Narelle's sketch is a good one!
Here is my rendition using that little leftover Anemone:

my friend Two Ls sent me a bunch of these embossed panels.
EF unidentified - sorry.

And just like that, it's Friday!  Hope you have a wonderful crafty weekend!

I was invited to Play Cards!

Last week I was invited to Play Cards by my friend Nora!  She had watched a video by one of the wonderful Altenew designers - Michelle Short - and invited me to a Facetime Playtime to try it out together!  How fun is that?

HERE is the link to Michelle's video just in case you'd like to try it out, too!

Nora and I had one of the same embossing folders Scenic Poinsettias from Spellbinders, and a few different ones to use, too.  Since I'm not a tag maker, I chose to use the technique on a full panel - but only used part of it!  Here's how that worked out:

These are the inks and supplies that were used to ink the raised images, and add a bit
of sparkle to my card using silver Delicata ink and silver embossing powder 'selectively'...

My next card was nearly thrown away - but I persevered.  Since it was the background that I wasn't happy with I simply snipped it away by fussy-cutting the Altenew Berried Cotoneaster embossed image!  I do love the technique on this deep dark green cardstock ...

and the inks:

I saved my favorite for last - those of you who know me well will be scratching your heads wondering why I chose the blue one as my favorite, I'm sure!

Nora and I both loved the gold with the resulting 'navy' that was the result of
swiping black cardstock with blue distress oxide inks with a finger dauber onto
this gorgeous Altenew 3D Poinsettia!

A simple die-cut sentiment adds the perfect final touch to my cards today!

Thank you so much for inviting me for a playday, Nora!  It was so fun catching up with you and chatting while crafting is always fun!  I can't wait to see how your cards turned out!!

Thanks to all of you for stopping by - remember I'm always up for a playday!

Just us Girls #683 - a second hello!

Ina's choice of words for Word Week at JUGS #683 is a well-loved sentiment for my cards.  When I entered the word HELLO into the search window on my blog, I couldn't believe the number of cards where I'd said hello. Try this on YOUR blog - bet you'll be surprised, too!

While straightening up my studio - the only way I can go on to the next project - I came across this black-foiled image from Spellbinders and hot foil sentiments from Altenew.  Just the ticket for second helpings:

I love that Altenew even includes a die for that comma!

I'm feeling a little sad today - 40 years ago today, I lost my father. I still miss him so. It is the reason I left these images black and white today.  I'm sure I've shared that my dad taught me all the tricks to shading and coloring, right? That brought my smile back.

Have a wonderful day...

Freshly Made Sketches #573

Kim is our hostess at Freshly Made Sketches #573 this week ... I'm now recognizing that my recall is no longer total!  geesh - this is the Sketch:

Turns out I was so happy planting my little posies it didn't occur to me that I flipped the Sketch!  Oh well, maybe I'll find a little more time for Second Helpings?

A very old SSS Hydrangea Petals meets new Altenew sentiment die!
It's been an age since I relied on this MFT Stitched Strip to add pizzazz to my card -
worked its charm for that panel in Kim's Sketch!

Thanks for all the love left for Nancy and me yesterday!  You're all so kind!
