I was invited to Play Cards!

Last week I was invited to Play Cards by my friend Nora!  She had watched a video by one of the wonderful Altenew designers - Michelle Short - and invited me to a Facetime Playtime to try it out together!  How fun is that?

HERE is the link to Michelle's video just in case you'd like to try it out, too!

Nora and I had one of the same embossing folders Scenic Poinsettias from Spellbinders, and a few different ones to use, too.  Since I'm not a tag maker, I chose to use the technique on a full panel - but only used part of it!  Here's how that worked out:

These are the inks and supplies that were used to ink the raised images, and add a bit
of sparkle to my card using silver Delicata ink and silver embossing powder 'selectively'...

My next card was nearly thrown away - but I persevered.  Since it was the background that I wasn't happy with I simply snipped it away by fussy-cutting the Altenew Berried Cotoneaster embossed image!  I do love the technique on this deep dark green cardstock ...

and the inks:

I saved my favorite for last - those of you who know me well will be scratching your heads wondering why I chose the blue one as my favorite, I'm sure!

Nora and I both loved the gold with the resulting 'navy' that was the result of
swiping black cardstock with blue distress oxide inks with a finger dauber onto
this gorgeous Altenew 3D Poinsettia!

A simple die-cut sentiment adds the perfect final touch to my cards today!

Thank you so much for inviting me for a playday, Nora!  It was so fun catching up with you and chatting while crafting is always fun!  I can't wait to see how your cards turned out!!

Thanks to all of you for stopping by - remember I'm always up for a playday!

My Poinsettia finale!

Hi my friends!  Hope your tummies, and hearts are full from a wonderful Thanksgiving!  It was very quiet 'round our house again this year.  With just the two of us, I went WAY outside the lines for our dinner and had a Mexican feast instead.  Let me tell you, the aroma from that pork [for Carnitas] roasting all night? - just as hard to sleep through as my Mom's 27 pound turkey!

It's time to start addressing envelopes, and signing Christmas cards. I've cut my list back this year, as I recently donated 150 Christmas cards to a favorite cause: Bring Smiles to Seniors.  I know you will all agree that this year our elders need more Christmas cheer than most do.

For my final two Altenew Poinsettia cards, I pulled out some of those favorite Wood Texture papers, and also a new pad of paper, from Craft Consortium: Grunge Dark tones.  I hope you like them... there might be a new Altenew die here...

this next one might be my favorite of the two...

This Poinsettia die was definitely my favorite of all my seasonal supplies this year.  I promise I won't bore you with any more!  But I could not resist sharing these last two!

Enjoy your Sunday!

CAS Christmas November and The Flower Challenge #50

I'm coming in quite late in the game ... and really not sure if my card will qualify!  But, I did have fun recently with a new die for the 2020 Season, and promised to share my creations using my Altenew Poinsettia die and patterned paper.  Maybe it was a die you purchased this year, as well?  It seems to be 'out of stock' everywhere I shop!

CAS Christmas November 2020 is asking for Non-traditional Colours ... I can't imagine my Poinsettia being more non-traditional!  See if you agree...

In real life this piece of Altenew paper from their Sweet Moments paper pack features shades of grey-green, and navy... makes me happy, I'll tell ya.

The Flower Challenge #50 is asking for florals with a sentiment - I think this one works for that one!

Same Sweet Moments paper collection this one in red, with grey and navy!

Happy Monday!

For the love of Poinsettias

Alright - we all know I might have a problem - never did I imagine it would include Poinsettias!  Just when I was having a playful day with my newest Altenew 3D Poinsettia dies, along comes an email from Altenew for a new Creativity Inspired contest!  What have I got to lose?  SO I'm getting WILD with Washi!

Here's my card:

Here's how it began:  with a wide roll of their gorgeous Painted Fantasy floral washi, adhered to 80# cardstock, then die cut with the Poinsettia dies.

After arranging the layers, my Poinsettia was adhered to a thin frame of Woodgrain Bark cardstockthen onto my card base - made from Spicy Yogurt cardstock that has been debossed with another favorite:
Dotted Swirls cover plate.  Here's a closeup:

A few Altenew enamel dots, and Bob's your Uncle!
OH! that sweet little sentiment is from another Altenew Poinsettia - you'll see more
of that on November 1st - wink!

That's it for me - wish me luck!  and thank you for stopping by!
