You can't imagine how happy I was to be invited by Michelle Lupton to join her for her 2024 CASE me a Christmas Card event! Here's how it works:
I had to choose a card from her Instagram gallery to CASE - BUT here is the catch: it is my job to turn one of Michelle's all-occasion/birthday/sympathy cards into a CHRISTMAS card! Now that all of my Christmas cards are done, it sounded like just the fun I was looking for as I prepare to snuggle in for the Winter! lol
It was quite a dilemma to choose just ONE of Michelle's cards, but here is where my heart landed - linked above to her IG account for your viewing pleasure... pack a lunch as there is SO much to love there - or you can check out her CASE of MY card right HERE on her blog!
Isn't that little gift-giver a sweetheart?
Now to make it my own while using these design elements:
- Make it a 'dutch door' card meaning only the bottom of the front panel is intact
- Use an adorable stamp/character as the star of the card - Copic colored
- Have a lettered panel on the inside panel
- add a simple sentiment
Here is how I made the 'dutch door' on my card base by 'partial die-cutting' the front panel using a curvy slope die instead of a straight landscape cut ...
The excess was easily cut using my guillotine, and a scissor to finish the cut.
However! That pesky tape left a mark!
This ADORABLE PB Sweet Sledder made her way into my stash recently -
it was the obvious pick for my card!
We all know how those Copics 'seep through' to the back of
our paper - I simply traced the portion that would be exposed
and added it to the back - easy enough!
I tweaked my 'Letter to Santa c. 1957' to print my lettered panel:
In case you're wondering - Shelly DID get that wished for, prayed for doll -
and I'm quite sure those naughty siblings were spoiled, too!
All the pieces came together, topped by something for that sweet face to look at and a hand-cut sentiment from a very old Clearly Besotted set.
That lovely tree is one from Sizzix for Tim Holtz topped
with a glittery star from EH.
I won't lie - I'm very happy with my CASE
of Michelle's card! Hope she likes it, too!
Thanks so much, Michelle, for inviting me to play! I can't wait to see which
card of mine that you were inspired to CASE!

WOWsers! I love everything about this, but that background... it's incredible and works perfectly here!! Heading off to work with a smile this morning, thank you for making my heart happy!
Double WOW, this is fabulous from that wonderful letter, die cut front, and that darling image looking up at that tree and sparkling star. Of course, your coloring is fabulous too. Love that sweet image and sentiment.
WOW, you should be happy with your CASE of Michelle's card. It is fabulous. Love the sweet letter and that adorable image and how you have her looking up at that sparkling star on the tree top. Your coloring is fabulous as always. Thanks for sharing.
OMG! I love, love this card. Did you make up the Dear Santa background, or is that a stamp I could buy? It's so dang cute!
This is ADORABLE, Michele! This little sweetie has found her way here too, but I haven't had a chance to ink her up yet! I LOVE how you've placed her and used the "Dutch door" for snowbanks and how she's gazing at the star on the tree with such wonder. What a great CASE!
I'm with Lisa...I think this just might be my favorite Christmas card of yours this year Michele, and you've had boat loads that I've loved! Your letter to Santa is FABULOUS (I'm so glad you let us see the whole letter!!), and I absolutely love how you did your dutch door! Of course the little sledder girl and her bear are just the sweetest ever and that tree the perfect finishing touch!! Love, LOVE this CASE'd card Michele...you did Michelle proud!! Hugs. :0)
i KNOW she's gonna love it as much as we do, Michele! What an adorable card featuring such a sweet girl
So much to love about your card Michele. I’ve never heard of a ‘Dutch door’ and I’m so glad ‘Shelly’ got her doll. Thank you for sharing your precious letter.
I don't even know what to say here except that I am always amazed by your eye for design, your ability to transpose elements in reimagining someone's design, and your beautiful heart for keeping it open to see. This card is so very special, as are you. Incredible job with Michelle's challenge.
You knocked this one out of the park, Michele!! This is amazing in every way. Your Shelly is just the sweetest and your letter warmed my heart. What a sweetheart. I am sure Michelle is thrilled!!
This is such a charming Christmas card! I love it and I'm sure whoever you send it to will have a difficult time putting it away after displaying it for the holiday season. Love your Copic coloring and the sweet scene you've created.
This is my favorite card I have to say. I love the Penny Black stamp with the little girl. I own it for several years and love it so much. Your card is so beautiful. I know it’s hard to color several of these but so worth it. She is so sweet with her sleigh and teddy. Well done 🫶🩷🛷🧸⛄️❄️🎄
Of course she will like it. It is quite magical. Love your Santa letter too xx
Adorable! Cute tweaking of your most precious Santa letter to go with the sweet PB stamp. I can see the wishing and hoping in her face, just like little Shelly!
Total wow card my friend! Michelle will love it I know!
The most adorable and clever card ever!! What a fun letter to Santa and this darling little sledding sweeties made another appearance. So incredibly cute Michele!
What a darling scene, Michele. That little girl is so cute with her sled and teddy and adding the tree and star to capture her wonder was such a great idea.
