Down on the Farm

I have a darling young woman in my life who lost both of her parents within months of each other this year.  Lynn and her husband built their 'forever' home on property they bought from her parents when she realized they would need help - more likely so she would be close for as long as she had them.

Their darling home overlooks the vast fields of the farm, and I couldn't help but think of Lynn and her parents' farm when Marcia passed this Harvest Home set from The Greetery on to me.  It was high time I used it - thank you Marcia!

I won't sugarcoat it - these tiny little layers [three each for the house and barn] of detail are a test for my strongest readers!  It's a fabulous set - did you spot the rolled bales of hay?  How wonderful that they small enough to build on these wonderful leaves!  I pulled a few stamps from their Destination Summer set: the sun and 'trees.'

I think this favorite debossing plate from Altenew gives the perfect breath of wind to give those leaves movement - of course the deep grey makes me very happy.

Thanksgiving will be very hard for Lynn and her siblings this year as it has always been spent gathered around the farmhouse table... I will be missing her mom, too.  She was a best friend of mine for nearly 50 years.

I'm so blessed to have all of you in my life - thank you for your friendship!

Love your card and your story. It's the best of card making when you create a personalized card for someone special. Please pass on all good wishes to Lynn and her family.

What a wonderfully detailed scene, Michele! Love the layered buildings and the sweet windmill! The background does give a feel of a windy day that's perfect to blow these pretty leaves around!

I have loved this set from the moment it came on the scene...but I was fearful it was a big too fussy for me to work with. I gladly realize that you're the perfect recipient....you've done it proud! What a lovely card inspired by your friend!

The love that went into making this card is as special as the card itself. Lynn must find great comfort in having YOU in her life. XO

My heart goes out to your friends and to you for the loss you have had. What a beautiful tribute to the loving homestead they had/have. I love the detail you added. Not sure my patience could hold out. And I really like the background. Wonderful work, my friend. Thank you so much for sharing.

What a clever idea to build those little scenes onto die cut leaves. I am enjoying your little scenes recently. You clearly have a great deal of patience. Good job as the end result is very special xx

Did you know I love barns as much as I love owls? Yours is so cute, Michele, and the whole farm scene is wonderful.

So happy to see this set in use again Michele and you really knocked it out of the park with your design! It looks like your strongest readers worked well on lining everything up...I always struggled with the house and barn too...they are just so darn TINY!! But oh do they make a glorious scene!! Loving all the beautiful Fall colors against the gray background too...those leaves really POP!! Beautiful card my friend and sure to be treasured by your friend! I treasure our friendship too and am so glad you had fun playing with this set!! Hugs. :0)

This is just so wonderful. I love that each leaf is a little scene unto itself but all part of a whole. What a lovely story, though a sad one. But this is how life goes, and I am sure this card will be a comfort and a heart warmer for Lynn.

How sad for Lynn to lose both of her parents within months of each other! But I love that they were able to build their forever home on the land they bought from her parents so they were close by. Love that their home overlooks field of the farm, that is amazing! And that is what I love about my own home, is that I can see the once family farm and the fields around me. The memories....So I am totally, head over heels in love with this card! The scenes on each leaf is amazing and oh so beautiful. Brings fond memories flooding back for me, only we didn't have round hay or straw bales, we had the smaller square ones. I think all the layers you had to do was well worth it as again...this is amazing and beautiful. My kind of card/my kind of scene and my kind of life! Love, love, love this one....I think it is my all time favorite! Hugs, Brenda
