Hello, my friends! August is starting off as it does in Michigan, hot days, cool nights, gorgeous light and today a Play Date with my friend Stephanie Lanzalotto aka My Ink Well!!! YAY!!
Stephanie is on a TON of design teams - you'll undoubtedly know her from Time Out and Less is More! She is SO much fun and though we've never met, I feel I found a match when it comes to humor!
Ready to see our assignment? It's a totally different concept this month and it all started with our love of PTI's Kind of Corny set! My friend Two Ls was kind enough to send me the set after she had stamped and die cut MANY for me over the years. One might get lucky enough to find the stamps in the PTI clearance section - but not those dies! So, I cut a few for Stephanie - that is where the challenge began!
My assignment for Stephanie involves the men in our lives! Here it is:
Make a card for one of our special guys
Use those PTI Kind of Corny images
Include stamping and summer colors
Fun and easy, right? Here is my [kinda corny/slightly sassy] card for my best guy...
I arranged my corn in the shape of an X and mounted it on a frame made with my Altenew Rounded Rectangles and cut from patterned paper from The Stamp Market. I chose the colors of late summer and created my own outside and inside sentiments on my PC and used Altenew's Featured Sentiments die set to cut out the outside sentiment.
Ready for the inside sentiment??
Hope you weren't taking a sip of coffee/tea/water just then!! Sorry if I've tainted your opinion of me! LOL [sorry, not sorry!] My guy is indeed having a birthday at the end of the month, so this assignment had perfect timing!
Stephanie, it has been SO hard not to share this with you earlier than our playday! I know you are going to knock my socks off, so I'm heading your way and inviting all my friends to join me!
Thanks so very much for Playing Cards, my sweet friend - let's Facetime again soon, okay??
Oh I just LOVE your card, and the inside sentiment takes the cake, and well worth the wait!! I laughed right out (very)loud when I saw it. Now I love you even more. Thank you so, so much for inviting me to play. See you oon, one way or another!
Hee hee! Great job on the outside and inside of this card, Michele! ;)
Thanks for starting my day with a smile! I do appreciate corny sentiments! It is corn season here which means fall is coming fast. Thank Heaven because I am over this heat! Now off to see your partner’s creation!
This made me laugh out loud, Michele! I'm glad I hadn't just taken a swallow of liquid because my computer would have had a shower! I'm sure Tom will get a big kick out of this! Love the late summer colors that remind me that Fall is coming soon.
oh how fun Michele, love both the playing cards and the card. i loved the inside sentiment...
As soon as I saw the cover sentiment, I had this hunch...and I was right!! So funny and hey, why didn't I ever buy this set since I'm an original Cornhusker! Love your humor!!
HA!! Thanks for the BIG laugh, Tom is going to love this! Super cute card, love the colors and the fun frame behind the corn!
You are SO naughty but I absolutely LOVE it!! Luckily I didn't have a drink in front of me or I would have had a mess to clean up!! Tom is going to LOVE this card Michele!! And I do too...front AND inside!! Hugs. :0)
Oh, those sentiments -- spew and sputter! Clever you! What a great set and cute card. Your guy is gonna love it!

So clever and totally hilarious inside and out! Thanks for the good laugh and I hope your hubby loves this as much as we all do!
Your sentiments made me laugh out loud, Michele! I showed your card to Matt. Tom will love it!
The late summer color palette is so pretty and the pattern and color of the frame are perfect for the CORNY couple. ;-P
Totally made me laugh out loud!!
The corn is fantastic - gorgeous colors. And the sentiment is just the best!!
This is one for the books, Michele. I can hardly get past that sassy sentiment to look at the card. ;) I love the maize. Those colors are fanatastic together.
