Fall is near … but there are still a few lovely days of Summer to celebrate! There is a certain end-of-Summer bloom I love the most … it's the one I've chosen for my Inspired By #88 card!
My splattered sunflower is an ages-old Poppy Stamps die
called Bountiful Sunflower.
That background is WAY out of my comfort zone, but it turned out pretty cool, right? I used my smooshing technique again with Scattered Straw, Wild honey, and Carved pumpkin Oxides, and applied them to a water color card panel until I saw the field and leaves in the photo represented. A tree circle stencil was used to apply Vintage photo ink as a stand in for that fun farm implement - does anyone recognize it? Hay baler? Thrasher? who knows?
I sure hope you'll play along this week - how is Fall showing up around your house?

Wow! This is terrific, Michele. Out of my comfort zone too, but quite compelling and pretty to look at. I don't know the name of the machine you are referring to, but I see it represented well. Thanks so much for sharing and being willing to stretch yourself. Bravo!
Holy smoke, Michele!!!!!!!!!!!! Thsi is insanely gorgeous. I love everything about it.
You've hit that background perfectly, Michele, and the tree circle perfectly represents that rake. I think it's a tedder that picks up the hay after it's been cut so it dries. It brings back memories of helping in the hay field.
Fall is peeping through here in Scotland x. Now you know I am going to love this card....Mixing the medias and a unique and artsy background. So very striking, loving the techniques you have done and what wonderful fall colours x.
Fabulous inky background.....like swirling leaves when the wind comes up! Gorgeous!
I love your background, even if it was out of your comfort zone (which I find hard to believe, LOL!). If my dad was still alive, he could tell us what that farm implement was....I miss him so much! Love your card, it's warm and thoughful!
Stunner of a card Michele. You captured all of the elements in such a fabulous artsy way. Love.
*GASP*. You nailed the colors of that background and it was brilliant of you to use the tree cross section to emulate the roundness of the wheels. But let's talk about that gorgeous sunflower die. So intricate and graceful...a pure beauty.
Holy macaroni!! This is FABULOUS!! That background totally ROCKS. I am loving that stencil!!
I don't know what that is but I'd love to add it to my other 'yard art'. You represented it beautifully with that stencil and I adore your "uncomfortable" background.
Oh my...how beautiful is that background Michele?!! Absolutely LOVE it!! And the sunflower is just the icing on the cake! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! :0)
Loving your artsy background here :) I'm a farmers daughter but have no idea what the equipment there is... an ancient thing for turning hay over maybe?!!
Your background is VERY COOL, Michele! I love how you created movement and your bloom is stunning! As always, you totally nailed it, my friend :)
Looks like you were pretty comfortable to me! Love the colors, the movement...everything!
Such a cool background, Michele ... it captures the inspiration beautifully ... and of course, that sunflower is wonderful against it! Hugs, Anita :)
Michele - I love the colors/textures on this and that age-old sunflower looks like it was just created yesterday! Really beautiful!
Rachelle : )
Your Inspired By cards are one of my favorites, Michele! I'm always impressed by how you interpret elements in the photo and use them in your cards. The smooshed fall background and the use of the tree circle stencil are AMAZING!

WOW! This background is perfect! I don't think you had a problem at all. Love the stenciled part to represent the farm equipment! It adds so much movement to the card. Love this gorgeous bloom, too! XX
Howdy! Long time no see. Had to come check out this beauty. And how perfectly it fits that inspiration photo. You're a genius. And artsy fartsy ;)
