The Flower Challenge #62 Add Leaves

I will admit to being a bit flummoxed by our prompt/theme at The Flower Challenge this month - don't all flowers have leaves??  AHHHH then I remembered that lovely tropical wonder that we've all adopted as quintessential Christmas plant:  the Poinsettia!  whose petals are not the flower, but their leaves!  If you doubt me, just read all about it here  then take a look at the leaves I stamped with a lovely Poinsettia from Uniko - a lovely gift from an even lovelier friend! and, yes, a favorite of mine at Christmas!

For those of you who own this Season of Beauty from Uniko, you'll notice I gave them a little of my own touches with a Copic marker, after layering up those leaves with Red Cosmos collection of inks from Altenew!  Now is the perfect time to add this gorgeous embossing from Altenew, too!

I'm off to see how The Flower Challenge team has interpreted this theme... join me, won't you?

Indeed those are leaves! I'm in love with how you colored them! I sometimes intend on color blocking, but always end up blending in the end. You've inspired me!

Perfection. Yes those are leaves as the bits in the middle are the flower. Amazing plant that over the years has brought festivity to a, sometimes dreary, Christmas holiday. You card, with all that textural goodness, conveys just that feeling. Gorgeous.

Fabulous especially layered on top of that fab embossed panel. I too thought of Poinsettias when reading the prompt.

Now that's thinking outside the box, Michele, and I love your interpretation. We all forget that fact. That ef was the perfect background for your poinsettia.

You are so clever, Michele...yes, the Poinsettia plant are comprised of leaves and you have showcased them beautifully! Your single bloom is perfect adjacent to this lovely greeting and your embossed panel is to 'die for'! I don't know how you achieve such a deep impression, but it's amazing!!! xx

You taught me two new things in today's blog, Michele - one was a word (new for me), flummoxed, and the other was that the Poinsettia's disguised petals were actually leaves!
The deep embossed white poinsettia background is amazing! It makes the colored poinsettia and the dark pink matte pop beautifully. I love how you colored the pretty poinsettia!

Michele, I was one of many who thought Poinsettias were a flower but in any case, yours are beautiful, love the embossed background and the sweet color on your Poinsettia.
The information you shared was surprising to me, I didn't know these flowers were introduced from Mexico to the USA so long ago but I'm so happy Mr. Poinsett decided to do it.
Thank you for sharing this, my dear, I'm happy to have learned something so interesting today.
Stay healthy and safe.
XO
Maria.

I am strolling through your blog and saw that I missed a few posts - and low and behold I cam upon this gorgeous poinsettia creation, and it gave my heart much joy to see it. Now you have inspired me to take mine out again. I love this simple and wonderful design and the way you colored the poinsettia AND the story about the plant. And of course, now I need that EF, and hope it is not unavailable...
