Just like [fabulous] you!

I'm always so grateful for the generosity in our crafting community.  I have received some amazing little packages in the mail recently!  Without mentioning names, BIG thanks to ALL of you, from the bottom of my heart!!

All the tons of inspiration out there is also appreciated … Lin, and Karin, shared some gorgeous cards for a challenge blog recently.  I fell in love with their papers, and since they've been out-of-stock since they used them, I set about creating my own - do you do this, too?  [Please tell me it's me being creative, not cheap!!! LOL]  I used a sheet of wood-patterned paper, lots of Altenew stamps, and Distress Oxide inks.

I should have shown a photo of the original paper... pretty basic beige wood grain - I added Copic coloring to add the color like that of Karin's card.  White acrylic paint was flicked on for the highlights.

Here are the papers that they used - you know, just in case you DON't want to create your own!  The LIKE YOU die is a prize from SSS I couldn't pass up this fun coordinating set of sentiments from the fabulous Cathy Zielske.

Hope your weekend is off to a great start!

Holy cow Michele! This is nothing short of amazing. Seriously. On screen this looks exactly like patterned paper. In real life I’m guessing it more beautiful than the papers. Fabulous!

Truly a creation...not because you're cheap (are you?). Love this better than the original pp. You're really showing off your talents, here. The card is absolutely gorgeous.

Hey, Michelle! I saw those posts from Lin and Karin, too, and fell head over heels for that paper! As luck would have it, it's out of stock every time I look. AND I, too, started thinking that I could make my own. I have tons of pretty floral papers and I went in the opposite direction. What would happen if I just stamped a pretty wood grain design over the floral? Well...that's my idea, and I haven't tried it yet. Ha! Just got over making all of my valentines and I need a little break to get ready for my mother's 96th birthday party. Anyhow, I just thought I'd comment on your brilliant idea...

Not cheap at all, but very clever and talented. It is simply gorgeous! Never would I have been able to pull something like that off. Great work creating your own patterned paper. It looks even better than the ones you linked to!! What a great way to "step-up" subtle patterned paper into something (fabulous)! :) xx

I love that you did this. I fell in love with their cards too and was going to approach it in the reverse. Floral PP with woodgrain stamp over it (cuz I'm lazy like that, ya know?!?)
