Loll really is the technique wizard in our card-making world, right? Watching her videos really makes me want to give them a try.
I had saved a few paper towels from another project and, following instructions, I just couldn't get a bright enough impression and figured it was because there wasn't enough ink in the towel.
Back to the drawing board - or clip board in this case... I have one that has a full sheet of acetate on it to which I smooshed some bright yellow Distress Oxide ink and mopped it up with said paper towel.
With all of my other attempts, I had more ink on my hands, than on the Bristol paper. This time, I made a sandwich:
- placed the Bristol paper on my acetate
- next: my color-saturated paper towel
- spritzed it with water
- placed the background stamp on that
- and weighed it down with two large books.
I was immediately intrigued...
From there, it was just a matter of making a card from it … and voila! For August's CAS Mix Up Challenge! using paper towel printing, stamping, heat embossing, water coloring, and a few added splashes of color...
Of course I wasn't going to waste that first try!
I trust the recipient won't try to lift my fingerprints!! lol
Have a happy Tuesday! Thanks, Loll, for encouraging me to try new things!

Wow, this was sure worth all the inky fingers, Michele. It's fabulous. I like the textured look of the background. Of course you also dressed it up beautifully with the flower and greenery. Your second card is also a big winner, too. Such a sweetie peeking through the leaf to eye the butterfly. Love!!
I never would have thought to "stamp" with a patterned paper towel! Love them both!
Thank you for explaining how you did the fun technique Michele x. It turned out beautifully and the vibrancy of the yellow is so striking. Such pretty cards, both of them...love the beautiful flower on the first and the fun little girl peeping out from behind the palm on the second x. Thank you for joining in The CAS Mix Up challenge x
You had me at yellow...kept me when you started layering paper towel with paper...fascinating. And what fantastic results.
Yah! You are a trooper! Card turned out great.
I love to try new techniques, this one is fun. Love your cards mt friend! xo
Oh Michele I absolutely LOVE both of your bright and cheery cards! But then you used YELLOW so how could I not love them?!! I really like how your background came out on the first card and how you finished it off with the simple flower/leaf and still kept it all CAS! And your fingerprint background is just perfect for your little PI gal peeking through the leaf fronds! Two FUN and BEAUTIFUL cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)
WOW and WOW!! I've never tried this, now I'm intrigued!! Two splendid cards Michele!!
Loll is definitely a technique wizard and she's gonna be so proud of BOTH your beautiful pt designs, M! I love the summery brightness of the yellow and the really pretty cards you made and framed so impeccably!! Hugs, D
Looks like you had a blast here, your cards are so clever, bright and fun!
Yum ... yellow, Michele! Brilliant backgrounds with that cool technique ... beautifully complemented by the softly watercoloured hibiscus on the first ... and that sweet girl peeking from behind the palm leaf on the second (with another hatching I see!)! Hugs, Anita :)
Great way to create fun and unusual backgrounds! Love both cards, Jo x
Awesome cards Michele, love both of them and the Paper Towel Transfer worked perfectly on the first card. Thanks for sharing at CAS Mix Up!
You rocked it Michele...love that yellow backgrounding. FABULOUS.
Wow, Two beautiful paper towel transfer backgrounds for your adorable embellished cards, Michele. TFS your transfer technique. I loved how both backgrounds turned out and of course your finished designs were so creative too. TFS my friend. Hugs..Nancy
Look at you, Michele! If the technique doesn't work for you, just come up with another! What a brilliant idea to use a stamp on a saturated, wet paper towel. Now I want to try that! Love the way your background turned out and the die cuts are a perfect match! Your second first card is just as adorable. That background turned out great too! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at CAS Mix Up!
Check you out!!! Oh my gosh, Michele...I really love how you pumped up the volume on your paper towel so that you could create such a cool pattern! I'm LOVING both cards so much...the sweet little girl peeking out from behind the fronds is just darling :) You totally knocked it outta the park, my friend...but, I'm not one bit surprised!!!
Great job, two adorable cards because your persistence paid off (or lack of rejection)!
You take innovative to a whole new level! Your cards are fabulous, fun and full of sunlight!
you are so clever in creating a patterned background with the paper towel - and two beautiful cards! Betty (GD)
You got beautiful texture and bright color from your paper towel. Love both cards.
How clever to do paper towel printing. You've GOT to use the actual paper towel with the diamond pattern in a card. Wouldn't it be amazing??!! I LOVE the print ... it's just so soft and pretty and perfect with your gorgeous framing and hibiscus flower. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! Your first attemp is awesome!! Love the randomness and the adorable design with the little girl peeking out from behind the flower. You are so talented!! xx
You're a genius too with this approach dear Michele. What a bright beauty you've created here with that water colour bloom. The second is no exception, you do make life fun! xx
Thanks so much for joining us at CAS Mix Up! xx
Wow, you ARE amazing, Michele! I never though of creating a pattern using a background stamp like you did!
Beautiful bright summery yellow background is perfect for the pretty hibiscus. The second card is so fun and adorable.
