It's a color challenge this week from Jan, and I couldn't help but paint these gorgeous apples as Granny Smith's! Can you blame me??
I'll admit it - it is a total CASE of Jaydee's wonderful card for The Paper Players #807! I had stamped an extra image from Carrie's Sweet Harvest set and was saving it for a day like today to turn them into green apples. Thanks, Jaydee, for the inspiration!
I've been participating in the Altenew Fan Group's Crafting Bingo and was
looking for a way to complete the Mixed Media square. I'm a complete failure
when it comes to mixed media... back to the drawing board!
But I still love my apples!
This is the card I've entered instead ... woodgrain card, a bit of gilding, some packing material and layered blossoms on the Altenew Ornate Frame. Which do you think is more 'mixed media?' My CAS loving crafty heart just doesn't allow for grunge.
I'm really making progress on the October Crafting Bingo card! I'm sure they'd love to have you join their Altenew Fan Group and the fun!

I like both of them Michele, but your apple card is my favorite! They're colored beautifully and I love, LOVE your background!! Looks like mixed media to me! Hugs. :0)
Beautiful and delicious apples. Your mixed media card is unique and has lovely flowers.
Your apple card is a huge "wow" for me. I just love the colors & the way you've used the background. (Not sure I could have ever come up with this.) It's so so pretty!
I'm with Donna - the background on that apple card is tremendous Michele, I can't stop looking at it! I have pinned it so that I can experiment with the idea, which I would never have dreamed up by myself. I am not good with grunge or mixed media, but that background has so much going on yet compliments rather than overwhelms those apples beautifully. I am inspired! Thanks for sharing with us over at The Paper Players this week!
Both wonderful cards, but the apples take the cake! The background is a most wonderful stage for those glorious apples. Just fabulous. I do love the second card too - love the colors and the woodgrain background. Whatever that piece across the bottom is, it is fantastic!
Fave? Your Granny Smiths won my heart over, they're so perfectly colored and placed on your beautiful background! Mixed media? That one would be the floral wreath, I dunno but the packing tipped it for me. I struggle with mixed media and grunge, as well.
Good for you for trying mixed media, Michele. I think it's an art I don't have but it's fun trying. Both of your cards have an entirely different look but are equally beautiful in their design.
These are both beautiful; I would say the second one is more mixed media. But I am ENTHRALLED by the embossing on the first one!!! That is stunning! WHERE did that come from? Your apples are gorgeous too! Thanks for playing with our Paper Players challenge this week!
Michele both of these are so beautiful! Perfect for the Canadian Thanksgiving we had on the weekend!
Love them apples but your second card is definitely mixed media with the bit of packing material(?) you upcycled. I have that Altenew die and found it a bit challenging.....Must be for younger hands and mind. I'll definitely try again.
Two marvelous makes, my friend! I love your beautiful apple card. The embossed background is as fabulous as the apples!
These apples are perfectly watercolored, Michele! And the soft colors of the embossed background is perfect! One of my favorite Michele cards!
There's so much to say about them apples! Firstly, Granny Smith's are my favourite and these ones look good enough to eat. Nothing wrong with a CASE, especially when it turns out as magical as this one is. And finally - what a background! The touches of colour to the texture just change the whole feel of the design. Thanks so much for making my colours shine at the Paper Players. :-)
Michelle, I love a good CASE and this one is no exception. I love all that wonderful texture in the background - it reminds me of the old victorian tin tile ceiling. The addition of the colors really helps the embossing to pop. Works perfectly with your fabulously colored apples. I love the second card, too! And, I;m with you on mixed media. I try.... but until Yoda... there is no do! :-)
So glad you shared this with us at The Paper Players this week
Jaydee
I don't think mixed media has to be grunge and your totally amazing apple card qualifies in my book. I especially love the background on that card. Your second card is another beautiful example of mixed media without the grunge. It's been a treat catching up here today. You always have the most wonderful cards!
Sometimes you just need to get an idea out of your head before you can move forward... that happens for me too! These are both amazing, those apples look delicious (though I know they are really Granny Smiths - Dad joke?)
