I refer to this little hobby of ours as playing cards.
I love to invite a friend to play cards with me - would YOU like to play?
I received a sweet little die from my friend Bobby Hagen [Bits & Pieces] for my birthday in November. Since she also treated herself to one, I thought it would be a great way to start playing cards again!
So here are the parameters I assigned to my playtime with Bobby:
- Memory Box Mistletoe Bundle
- with Speckled Egg & Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide inks... easy peasy!
- First I cut all the dies from Bristol paper, and a card-base that is 4x7 inches
- For the greenery, I smooshed some Rustic Wilderness ink onto a piece of acetate, spritzed with water, and applied it to the die-cut
- Created a piece of Bristol blended with Speckled Egg DOX from which I cut the berries, the sweet little bow, and also a tiny tag.
- I created a mop-up background using the leftover ink, and a stencil. [my friend Bonnie calls this a Stencil Monoprint] Makes me think of marble. Added that to my card base.
- Silver embossed a few hugs, and kisses on my tiny tag, and hung it with care with silver thread.
- After mounting them on my card base with foam squares, all that was left to do is to give it a bit of twinkle with Stickles!
Thanks, Bobby, for always being fun and ready to do just about anything! I can't wait to see your card ... thanks again for this wonderful gift!
Hey, let's go see it together, okay? But! Don't be surprised if one day soon I invite YOU to play cards with me! It might be just what I need to get through Winter! Are you up for it?
Totally different from mine, Michele. Isn't it fun to see what we can do with the same supplies? I love that marbly looking background and the spotted mistletoe with just enough glitz to make it festive. Yes, let's do this again.
I wanna play!! And your card is BEAUTIFUL!! I love the combination of the Speckled Egg and Rustic Wilderness together...soooo pretty!! And that mistletoe die is just lovely! Beautiful card and now I need to go check out Bobby's!! :0)
Great colour combination and a really delicate and pretty card and you sure had fun with Bobby x.
You're absolutely right, it does look like marble...and the soft color appeals to my pastel heart. The Rustic Wilderness DOX is THE perfect contrast to the background. Love the tiny tag, bow and berries, as well.
Gorgeous card Michele, love that marble-y looking back piece. Off to see what Bobby did!
Totally looks 'marble-esque' to me! What a fabuous card Michele, off to check out Bobby.s!
I thought you used a patterned paper for the background! It turned out beautiful! And the sweet mistletoe with the tiny tag is just the loveliest!
Beautiful! Jo x
What a great idea, Michele! I love your mistletoe (that you enabled me to order after the last card) with the acetate smooshed color and soft blue berries! The background does look like marble and such a pretty way to show off your sprig!
I love the different card the two of you created with this pretty die! Marvelous card!
This is just lovely, Michele! :) Hugs!
Your background does indeed look like marble. So perfectly so, that it could pass as designer paper. Beautiful card! Off to Bobby's blog....
This is positively stunning, Michele! I oogled at it for a loooong time on inst! Your inky background really does look like marble. I'm tempted to try, but I know mine will turn out nothing like it! lol
For now, I'll simply admire yours :)
Oh the games you play! That marbled look is fabulous! And this card manages to be elegant and sweet at the same time!
So, so gorgeous, Michele! Love that background but confused how you got marble from a stencil. Anywhooooo... it's totally terrific!
You have such a way with cards, I don't know how you so it. That background looks just like marble, totally amazing xx
Sounds like you had so much fun playing cards with Bobbie, Michele!
The ink smooshed mistletoe goes so well with the marble-look background. I love the tone of the color and the visual texture!
The shine and sparkle here and there, and the dangling tag are so pretty!
p.s. Did you take the picture of the cute little birds?
Love your card, Michele, and your idea of play time is such a good one! I'd love to play with you sometime! I saw your comment on Marcia's card and felt a bit envious at your mention of playtime. I thought, how cool it was that you two lived close enough to get together!
