Which came first? The Group of Seven members have been tempting me with their fabulous makes using a technique that I was dying to try - then Bobby used it for her JUGS #699 card! It doesn't matter, as I made TWO cards so I can send one to each! Well, that was my intention... NOTE TO SELF: read the directions!
When a girl has more than 100 embossing folders, it can be tough to choose just one to play with ... thus the reason for TWO cards. Let's start with the one I am sharing with JUGS' CASE the Designer challenge, shall we?
Here are the inks I chose...
I found the wonderful Alstroemeria Bunch Folder and Die combo from
SSS on the cheap - I've been admiring my friend Bonnie's use of it long enough!
The video Bobby shared on her post used Distress Oxide inks which were
blended onto a panel of paper randomly. AFTER dark ink was applied to the debossing side of the folder, the piece was placed inside the embossing folder and run through the machine.
The results I had were not perfect... the ink kept beading up on the plastic folder... but perfection is in the eye of the beholder and my husband saw a wonderful 'pointillism' to the resulting background!
I agree and thought it was the POINT of CASEing - to change a few things, right?
The ink colors - check. The folder - check. The color of the background and
the resulting fun that resulted from using a dye ink rather than a pigment ink!
Okay. My card for the Group of Seven is all wrong! It was supposed to be done using water coloring with the inks!! I'm sorry ladies! But I'm sharing it just the same - kind of a 'don't do as I say or do' kind of thing! I'll do better next time!
Altenew's Beautiful Bergenia embossing folder, three different colors, and VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink...
I found the best way to clean that embossing folder after playtime was to use liquid laundry soap directly to the folder, scrub with a soft nail brush, and then with warm water added. Clean as a whistle and ready to play again!

'pointillism' what a wonderful word, I shall try to remember it, but probably won't! I really like the effect, but like you, if it happened to me I would be disappointed. Your husband is right though, it looks good. You would never be able to achieve that look if you set out to do it so it is one of those happy accidents. Love the drama of your second card, it looks great xx
Wow - what a great EF's you used here Michele! LOVE the colors and how pretty with the DOX inks (I only tried regular distress) - you created a new look for the technique!! SO pretty! I used a Brusho background for my cards with the technique, Michele! Your colors are brilliant and you got fabulous results! I think the Versafine Clair is the secret weapon for this technique. Unfortunately I don't have that. Thanks for the tip on cleaning. I'm glad your folder came out spanking clean! Your card almost makes me want to try this again!

These are both beautiful Michele and I broke down and tried the technique too and just finished writing up my post for Friday. I went a little rogue too and didn't use re-inkers to water color with, but used Magicals and the shimmer is incredible! But anyway, your cards with the ink blending turned out sooooo pretty and I know everyone else will love them too!! Hugs. 😊
These are both gorgeous and I do see the pointillism and think it is a great look which adds a lot of interest.
WOW! Definitely have to pick my jaw up, your inspiration is some of the best I have seen using this technique my friend. It does look like it may be a little too inky for my fingers, but I could wear gloves lol. Great choice of folders too, though I would say you may have a little more 100 folders (wink).
Oh my goodness, Michele. If that first one is "wrong," don't you worry about being right, it's a beautiful card! Love the beading and how organic the card feels. Then the one you did "right" is gorgeous, too. Leave it to you to make TWO stunners!

I rather like the look you got when the background ink didn't cover entirely, Michele. I wish I'd known about the folder sale because I have been enjoying Bonnie's makes with it too. The second one is much brighter and just as lovely. I didn't use reinkers on mine but both Bonnie and Loll encouraged me to send mine to GO7. Bonnie used Brushos so it's the technique and not the ink you use.

OK, I am quite inspired to try this technique. You picked 2 perfect EFs for it. I saw Bobby's gorgeous card, but have to get the details. Beautiful work as always. I love the way you added the sentiment on the first, and Tom is right. The effect is fabulous.
Two beautiful cards using this technique, Michele. Your first card is very artsy with the pointillism background ... a happy accident! :) And I love that you've used a dark blue. I haven't tried different colours for the background but it's a great way to change the look of this technique. Your second card is awesome ... love the colour combo of your beautiful flowers. Pointillism myself and am amazed at how many zillions of dots the artist must splash to create the picture…..and you managed the technique with one swipe of an embossing folder! Genius! Love these dark elegant cards!
I fell in love with this technique and ordered me some black Versafine Claire ink. LOL I think it is out in my mailbox. So I haven't tried this technique yet, but I am sure loving both of yours!!! The first one is so cool looking, love the color coming through on the back ground. A whole new look! Then there is the second one, wow! Not sure what isn't right about it, because it looks perfect to me! The colors are so vibrant and that folder is so pretty, the black so crisp....the colors just glow! Well done girlfriend!
