Hello, my friends! It's Christmas time - and our last challenge of the year at The Flower Challege! I hope you have a floral Christmas card to share with us! Here is your challenge - add sparkle! after all, it's tinsel time!
I had a little bit of fun for my card using an inking technique on an embossed image - you've no doubt seen this trend around this year.
It starts by adding ink to your paper using the embossing folder as a guide...
Then, run the piece through your machine with the 'debossed' side of the folder...
Using a flat sponge applicator, I went a little 'outside the box' reaching
for Espresso Distress Oxide ink instead of black ink... before adding sparkle with embossing powders gold paint and a few PFS gems - I love those brown ones!
A bit of extra sparkle can be found on my sentiment strip -
copper metallic sparkle to be exact!
The brown might not be for everyone, but I do love a little drama! YOU do YOU and join us, won't you?
OH! and a little news! We have a new team member, and you will love Marie as much as I do! Come see her premier and the sparkly goodness from the team right HERE!

Just gorgeous! I must say, those florals against the brown look stunning, especially with all the gold"ness"!! Pretty, pretty, pretty!
The brown definitely works for me. This is wonderful and I love all the added sparkle xx
Oh, my brown lovin' heart just loves this to pieces! Using brown ink vs black was genius, too!
Oh, my WOW! One of the most gorgeous Christmas cards I've seen this year! All that gorgeous brown and gold and color! With all the black out embossing folder techniques I've seen I'm losing track. This one is a must do for sure!
I love this gorgeous elegant wreath you've created, Michele! Having just a portion of it on the card is eye catching. I think your brown was the perfect choice with those other marvelous colors!
WOW, WOW, WOW!!! This card is absolutely GORGEOUS Michele! I love the way you added your color first using the ef as a guide...I've always embossed first and then added the color in the grooves. I would definitely like to try it your way!! And I love the brown rather than the black for the background...just as dramatic!! And of course the gold splatters and copper sentiment bring the sparkle on big time. Lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)
Oh Michele, you ROCKED this technique and you can count me in for loving the brown, it looks stunning with the flower colors and all the gold! So, so gorgeous!
What a stunner, Michele! This looks amazing!!
I tried this technique once and it didn't turn out well at all like this! I love how the colors contrast with the brown background! The gold centers make this extra special, my friend!
OH, my, but this is so rich! I love it. I have also been experimenting with colors other than black but had never thought of this yummy rich brown. Rockstar!!!
Wonderful, wonderful card. I too love the brown.
Lovely choice to blend with the brown... but it's those gold highlights that really take it to the next level!
This is soooo beautiful. I love this technique. And the brown looks amazing with those gorgeous sponged colours. The gold adds so much sparkle to the card. xx
I've done the technique a little differently but this works and I do love the brown with the flower colors, Michele. The gold centers and splatters up the sparkle factor brilliantly. Pun intended. ;)
