It's seldom we get green from the gals at Color Hues, but Sheri has gifted us with it for challenge duo #111: Coral and Green! Now, wouldn't you think I'd reach for a floral? It has been my wish for a long time for CH to add green to their list of neutrals after all! But not today - I had a little fun in mind with those cute little canoes!
This Catherine Pooler Oar-some Dad set has several pun-y sentiments - I had my way with one of them... if you aren't familiar with river canoeing there are no waves but watch out for the whirlpools and eddys...
Inside:
Fun, right? This is definitely the card for my Girl-Dad SIL =]
My 'eddy' was created with a fun set of dies from Waffle Flower I picked
up from their Flash Sale a few weeks ago called: Nesting Dotted Circles.
Now before that set gets stowed away, I had to have a little CASE
from Nance's card that made me fall in love with this set in the first place.
I thought it would be fun to add a 'water feature' so I stamped
the waves over top of the canoes and clear heat embossed them!
A fun background was created with the fun paddles - CP
cleverly called them 'oars' to enable her fun sentiment...
Not quite as CAS as Nance's but I like it!
Sheri, don't think for a minute I won't be using your gorgeous colors for a floral card, too!

Two AWESOME cards Michele! You definitely had fun with this set and I'm loving your sense of humor with the sentiment...too funny!! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Color Hues my friend!! Hugs. :0)
These are both oodles of fun! A very cute use of those colors for a non-floral card!
Dang, I love these so much! The colors are wonderful. Funny, looking around at the earth, I have always felt green should be a neutral, too. Both cards are so great! Love the clever designs on each, especially the first. I sure know about the river eddies. Cute story: We were on a little trip when our son was small, camping along the way. Pulled into the Big Eddy Campground one evening, already dark, wondering if there were any available spaces. We could see a man silhouetted against the light in the window of the camp host cabin. Our son said, "There's Big Eddy, we can ask him!". Of course, you know Big Eddy was in reference to the river, but in his mind... He learned about eddies that day and Rich and I stored away a moment we'll never forget.
What great cards. I love those circle dies on the first and how you have CASEd Nance's card. The addition of the embossed waves was a brilliant idea xx
These are both just ad-oar-able! Such fun colors and images! And creative sentiments as well!
Such a fun card, Michelle! I love the creative design to resemble a whirlpool. Also, I am not familiar with that Eddy term so thanks for educated me as well. Always a pleasure having you at Color Hues.
Leave it to you to come up with such a creative entry to the Coral and Green Challenge! Love it--and the take on Nance's card, too, The dotted circles are a great background--another very creative use of those nested dies! Thanks for sharing with us at Color Hues--as always!
Twi great cards -- the stamp set is really awesome and fun. I also love the waves on the canoes
Both of your canoe cards are wonderful Michele! Love the concentric circles to create whirlpools. The canoe is such a fun summer stamp set and of course I always appreciate your humour! Thank you so much for sharing with us at the Color Hues!
Okay. I have to say it. Two oarsome cards, Michele. Seeing these canoe cards makes me want to go down the AuSable again. Haven't done that in years.
And there you are you clever gal at it once again. Love the eddy and how you chose something unexpected for the colors. Your second card is quite eye catching too. Love them both.
How oar-some are these cards? And I am not familiar with river canoeing so this was a nautical lesson for me, too! All I know is both cards are so cool--thanks for the lesson!
Two fun cards for a Dad or any guy, Michele! I love the colorful canoes and punny sentiments! Thanks for sharing one with us at Color Hues!
Oar-some Dad is a fabulous set. I have not see it... been trying to keep my blinders on... I love both of your cards and your wonderful humor, of course.
That is an OARsome card Michele and I love that punny sentiment! Just goes to show that green doesn't always mean floral. Your second card is equally fun, with the contrast between the grey and rainbow panels. Thanks for your continued support at Color Hues. :)
Both cards are fantastic, Michele. Love the sentiment on the first and the circles as the water. The stamp set is pretty darn cool, too. Then the smart way you added embossing to the water on the second card. The stamping of the oars is clever, too. Dang, Michele you are so clever in your cardmaking! Thank you for sharing!
Adorable cards but I did notice the top canoes are caught in a whirlpool and the bottom vessels and rocked by waves…….oh look there I am …..waving from shore…..
Both such clever designs, loving the graphic feel to them!
I have to say, Michele, I like your version better. Great case-ing! xoxo
