While browsing my YouTube subscriptions I discovered Penny Black's Permission to Play series! I can get lost in Jill's water coloring, can't you? [After a little bit of shopping] I gathered a few supplies from my PB stash to join in the fun!
Here is Peaceful Time using Jill's #1 sketch and panel design...
I loved that Jill embossed her background... I have a few of my own! wink.

You know my rule... here's card two:
Spellbinders' Leafy 3D embossing folder - Canson cold press watercolor paper
Assorted Distress inks for coloring
I'm always pleased to get Debby Hughes' blog posts delivered to my inbox. I couldn't resist CASEing her latest creation for SSS! You can find it HERE. I have quite a few SSS flower dies so I did a little digging and found one that could be layered as Debby did.
It has been an AGE since I used embossing paste - lucky for me it
hadn't completely dried up.
I couldn't help but try to 'stage' my card 'Debby-style' too! Her photography skills
mirror her card-making skills! But I sure do miss her videos - maybe one day she'll
treat us to a little water coloring again!
Oh, my goodness, stop! I'm stealing a moment to view your blog and here I sit swooning and spellbound with a million things rushing through my head. I'm a Jill Foster and Debby Hughes fan, too. I love that you took the time to act on your inspiration. Your cards are all so beautiful in entirely different styles. Love the bird, which I've used several times but now I want to pull it out again and make these exact cards. And the yellow cosmos card... I can't even. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteYou know I love me some birdies and these are super-duper cute! LOVE the embossing in the background, and yes, I know you have a "few" of them! The florals are delightful too...embossing paste and I just don't see eye to eye, but I love seeing yours!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a treat when Debby posts and I miss her videos too. It's a treat to see this sweet bird again, twice! They make me want to dig mine out. And your Cosmos and fern is Debby worthy, my friend! I wonder if my embossing paste is still good to go?
ReplyDeleteWHat pretty little birds! Love them both and their embossed backgrounds! Great job CASEing Debbie's card. Your version is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAdorable birds and designs, but your last card did not lose my attention at all either -- 3 great cards, My Friend!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, Michele.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful work, Michele! Thank you for sharing your talents with us! Love the birds. Your cards have a lovely elegance to them that I admire. Hope your weekend is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love Jill Foster videos too Michele, although she always makes it look a lot easier to water color than it really is! Of course, she probably has a lot more patience than me and lets layers dry before adding on! But anyway, your cards are absolutely beautiful! I love both of your birdie cards and the embossed backgrounds are SO PRETTY!! And you are definitely making good use of that letterpress sentiment set! Your last card is FABULOUS!! The flower and fern are beautiful and I love, LOVE that stenciled background with the embossing paste! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking that video. I will definitely have a look. Your cards are perfect. That little bird is so cute and looks great in both colour ways. Love your take on Debbies card too. I completely agree with you about her skills xx
ReplyDeleteSounds like there are a lot of PB & J fans here although I haven't watched her videos in a while. Those birds are darling, Michele, and embossing adds a great background without distracting from them. I love the flower and that fern is so delicate.
ReplyDeleteMore glorious designs Michele, love how you have brought this beautiful bird to life and your 'Debby' inspired card is divine. It's so nice to be home and finally catch up on your cards, though I am already back at work and chomping at the bit to be creating again lol.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards to end the week my friend!
ReplyDeleteYour little birds are adorable, Michele! The embossed backgrounds create the perfect playgrounds for them. Your Debbie-style card and staging are fabulous! I love how the distressed texture of the embossing paste in the background and the white spatters capture the essence of Debbie's card.
ReplyDeleteHideko xx
Love your cards with the cute bird and the lovely daisy. I have quite a few of SSS dies also and love the one you used. TFS
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty cards! I am a total Debbie Hughes fan - she makes it look so easy!
