Jenny is our host for CAS Mix Up August 2021, and I'm so pleased to be invited to be her guest! Thank you, Jenny! Here is the fun technique Jenny has chosen for us:
After looking through my stencils, I found a few open enough to make this technique work well. Jenny has shared a few videos to watch over at the CAS Mix Up blog post. But here is how I found stamping through a stencil worked best for me:
Step one: cut an A2 panel of card stock, apply a bit of repositionable tape to the
back, and adhere to a sheet of MISTI grid paper, centering as best you can.
Step two: Add your choice of stencil [an open design is recommended] and use washi tape to keep in place. This is also a good time to position your chosen stamp, too - today I'm using MFT's Roses all Over cling stamp today.
Step three: I then picked up the grid paper, with stencil attached, and fit it into a clipboard for blending.
Step four: After blending, place the grid paper back into your MISTI, and stamp repeatedly, right through the stencil, until you are happy with the coverage. It is imperative that your blended ink is completely dry before stamping!!!
My panel was trimmed down using a Pinkfresh Studio Stitched Rectangle die. I found a fun die for my sentiment, and here are the results!
Here's a look at my inks, and the embossed panel I use for a little lift,
without adding foam squares. This Altenew Happy Birthday die has such a fun font - I did a mop up of water-spritzed Scattered Straw ink to add the color. Leave it to Waffle Flower Crafts to have enamel dots to match!
Okay, I'm so excited to see what Jenny and the CAS Mix Up team has created, aren't you? See you there!? Thanks again, Jenny!

WOW! A guest designer with a terrific tutorial. I'm going to use your techniques the next time I do this method. I love how those yellow roses fit so beautifully into those circles. Makes for a fabulous card. And, to top it off, the sentiment treatment is bang on gorgeous. Thanks for being out guest at CAS Mix Up. You really nailed it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea, thank you for sharing your process. Despite trying to do this technique and making several cards that didn't make the cut, I never thought of attaching the stencil to the misti paper, brilliant. I have had such trouble that my reminder card is not done yet! Anyway your creation is fabulous, thanks so much for joining us as a guest designer. It is a pleasure to have you xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Michele for the step by step and many congratulations on guesting x. Your card looks amazing and the technique looks fabulous. Such a happy card and what a striking design x.
ReplyDeleteWonderful as always Michele! Looks like we have both been playing with stencils and I'm loving how you used the 'mop up' to colour your sentment too.
ReplyDeleteThis is a terrific card Michele and to have such a great tutorial for it is the cherry on the cake. A truly super card! It's fab to have you as our Guest Designer this month!

Pretty daggone cool!! Leave it to you to come up with a fabulous idea like this, or to at least execute it in such a fabulous way! LOVE the sentiment and how you colored it too!
ReplyDeleteI love your technique for stamping through a stencil, Michele. It's brilliant and makes such a nice design! Another brilliant idea to use an embossed piece of cardstock to lift the design piece! It's always a pleasure to have you as a Guest Designer, my friend!
ReplyDeleteYay you, congrats on guesting! You've worked your magic with this stamp/stencil combination, this is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being Guest Designer over at CAS mix up :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card and thanks for the stenciling tip ♥
Beautiful card Michele! LOVE your circle stencil and the gorgeous flower stamped on top. LOVE the large die-cut sentiment. Thanks for being our Guest Designer this month at CAS Mix Up! xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being guest designer, Michele. And design a fabulous card you did! What a unique idea to stamp through a stencil. You executed it beautifully. What a great idea to use an embossed panel to lift the focal piece. The sentiment is terrific, too. What a winner of a card, my friend! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats and thanks for such a visual tutorial! I'm definitely going to give this a try. Your card is lovely.
ReplyDeleteGlad to have you guesting with me, Michele. I love your tutorial although I didn't do mine quite this way. I think it's great when we can show others how to do something or a different way to be inspired. The roses are wonderful through the circles. I was going to use circles but opted for the diamonds for something different. I don't have many open stencils and I had to have Lisa bring what I used to me.
ReplyDeleteOh how fun is this? I love the pretty color combo you used and the ombre sentiment. GREAT design!
ReplyDeleteThis turned out great, Michele! I tried exactly the same thing for my card (mid-month), but my stencil was too thick. Stamped on the stencil, but didn't go through to the paper, sheesh. What a pretty card with the bold sentiment in shaded yellow!
ReplyDeleteStunning, Michele! What a way to come back -- with a bang! Beautiful colors, and I love the "thru a stencil" technique, as well as the spritzed color to a mop puddle!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous use of the technique and your fav color combo.
ReplyDeleteHi Michele ~ Congrats again on your win! I'm so happy to see you and Bobby as GD for this month :)
