What to do when you can't 'have it all' - yet!

Hello my friends!  Don't we all wish we could have every speck of every release that we admire most?  When Pinkfresh Studios has a release, I try very hard to 'do well with' what I allow myself to indulge in.

I resisted buying the stamp set from the Rainbow Floral Suite - but HAD TO have the washi tape and dies AND stencils.  Here are a few ways I used that tape - just one of the many blooms - from the left on white paper, middle on gingham* paper, and right on kraft plaid* paper...

A subtle difference, right?  Here are the gingham and plaid cards... but you'll have to wait for my Play Date in May for those on white - I'm such a tease, aren't I?

The little bird, and this sentiment, is an oldie from Altenew Wild Hibiscus set

Now.  About that stamp set I neglected to buy ... here's my way around it for now.  But don't think I won't want it some day!

As much as I like them - I didn't LOVE them.
A little multi-liner pen work to the rescue!
Here's a closeup:

I thought about trying to outline the stencil, but following the graphic
on the back of the packaging, the addition of line art was pretty simple.
Not perfect, but they sure add something extra.

This sentiment comes from PF Cosmos Bunch.  The panel die is PF Mini Slimline Essential bundle.  The dots are Altenew
These are my inks:

That's it for me today - we're having lots of rain today, and it has warmed just enough to have my perennials peeking!  Beware of the forecast, little friends!

  3. You know my thoughts when I look at your blog, right??? Ooops, she did it again! Golly Michele, I am so loving those flowers on the different papers-all three are so cute in their own way. Love them all, but think the last on is my favorite. lol Then I get to your first card and I see a rainbow of flowers on such beautiful backgrounds, love how the gray lets the rainbow colors pop. And who doesn't adore plaid?!! Go to the second card and I'm wowed even more, love that plaid as well, but the addition of the bird and that label die is so pretty. Ok, thinking that was it....I came to the third card, WOW! It looks so amazing and you sure did get around not having the stamp set! I would have betted the bank that you stamped this beauty! The outlining alone is amazing looking! Really, save your money Michele, as the stamp set can't begin to look as good as this does! Hugs, Brenda

  6. Letting the patterned paper show through gives a whole new look to the flowers, Michele. What a great idea! The little flowers really do show up better with your wonderful line drawing.

  11. that is such a clever idea to add the washi tape to the patterned paper, I love the look. I am always amazed at how you keep coming up with things. these days I am sitting with a complete blank in my head as to what to do, it has got so bad that I am in danger of getting really late with my DT cards. I am just relieved that CAS Mix Up is still on break. You are right about the line drawing on the last card, it really makes those flowers pop. Love them all xx

  12. You’re a master with the washi. The stenciled blooms are fab with the addition of the line doodling. I took an online card class years ago and that was one of the techniques taught for stamped “watercolor” type blooms…adding the black o utilizing. It just adds another level of fab.

  13. I love the look of the gingham and plaid through the washi tape Michele...beautiful cards! Your last card is the show stopper for me...CAS perfection! Adding the multi-liner adds SO much to your blooms...definitely defines them! Lovely cards my friend!! Didn't you LOVE all the sunshine today??!! A tad bit windy and cool, but oh so nice to see the sun for the whole day long!! Hugs. :0)

  15. Oh yes, beware because Winter {as we call it here} can come roaring back with a vengeance, as my peonies and freesia have discovered. S$%&T!
Anyhoo...that washi would look good on an old paper bag but on patterned paper it adds so much texture and interest. The fine line drawing around your stenciled floral looks absolutely perfect. Must be hard to be so brilliant.

  17. What a great post! I love all the cards... with patterned paper and clean and simple. Yes, I'm one who wants it all but must be realistic. You've done beautiful and clever things with the choices you made!

  18. I'm an outline kind of girl so seeing what you did with the multi-liner pen is genius! I love the Pink Fresh collections but I also try to limit myself (and squash down the Full Set Syndrome I suffer from!)

  19. Yes to it all!! All this inspiration makes my heart happy and I just want to get out my crafty goodies and play, you have that effect on me my friend!

  20. I am finally reunited with my computer and have a ton of catching up to do. What a fabulous idea to place the washi on patterned paper - how I love the places your creative mind goes. I love the cards you made with that technique. Just gorgeous. And your new stencil and liner thing is just fabulous. I am sure those stamps will appear one of these days, but this workaround is fantastic. Great choice of sentiment on your stenciled card.
