CAS Mix Up April 2021 Paper Piecing

My Friday was spent on a little road trip with my honey - a very fun day!  We've had a few day trips this week while he's been on vacation.

So, I found a cute CAS way to add a bit of Mixed Media to my crafty style today.  I'm sharing it with the CAS Mix Up April 2021 challenge - add Paper Piecing, to my stamped, die-cut, and dry-embossed card!

Before you think I've lost it, look again ... this little stack of buddies have been stamped, and die-cut from a a single sheet of Lil' Inkers Dip Dyed Ombre* cardstock in fun neutral colors!  Aren't these little MFT characters fun?  I've clipped that No One Stacks... sentiment in two, finishing it on the inside: Up to You!

My own Dad's hammer came out today for a bit of selective embossing with an old Sizzix for SU folder.  They're balancing nicely on a piece of twine - good thing, I'd hate to see that fish bowl dropped!

Hope you're having a great weekend! I'm going to get this delivered over to those ladies at CAS Mix Up!

  1. Great way to use up that patterned paper...I don't know about you but I have tons. You did a stellar job of stacking these critters and balancing them on that twine. I can see I'm going to have to get my hammer out and try this selective embossing technique. Is it patented?

  2. Such a great idea, especially for mass production (which I normally don't like but I'm doing cards now for a residential care facility). These critters have so much personality that coloring isn't really necessary. And what a great sentiment. By the way, I get my Grandpa's hammer (now over 120 years old!) for many special applications and home repairs... so I loved hearing your hammer story.

My hubby and I have decided we must make an effort to start going out again, so have a couple of small trips planned next week when we hope the weather will be a bit warmer. Lovely to see you in the CAS Mix Up gallery with this beauty xx

  9. I love this, and am quite intrigues by the hammer technique. I have "heard" you mention it before and can imagine how it works, but maybe a little tutorial? I would hate to smash an embossing folder to bits. LOL. So glad you got a fun day trip in. I've been down the shore all week, and it has been wonderful.

  20. This is an adorable CAS card Michele! I love when you bring out your Dad's hammer, you always get such a good image when you use it. Love that! I love the ombre paper you used for these cuties. I also love how you balanced them on the twine, they are good balancers as I would have already dropped the fish bowl! lol The sentiment is so cute and I love that you slit it up. So stinkin' cute! Hugs, Brenda

  29. This card is soooo cute, and these 3 critters are adoooorable, Michele! (I need a horizontal slimline card to fit these 2 sentences.)
Wonderful use of the neutral ombre cardstock for paper piecing. The slimline card is perfect for the stacked critters. The partial embossing and the baker's twine are really nice touches.
