CAS Christmas: September 2020 Christmas tree!

Okay... let me start by saying thank you, for stopping by, and for putting up with me for a test ... no you won't be graded.

As you read this, I am about to write my very first post using the New Blogger - so far so good!  I'm sharing a card made for the September CAS Christmas Challenge - now, here comes the difficult part:  linking this text with the challenge post!  aha!  it worked!

and so did pasting their graphic!!  Yay!

I sifted through my [three] containers of Christmas sets and was thrilled to find so many Christmas tree options ... don't think that means I won't be tempted to buy more!  Today, I'm using a Penny Black cling stamp called Christmas Glow.  Here are all the supplies I needed to complete my card:  [this is where I insert a photo - fingers crossed]

Voila!!!  it arrived perfectly!
I stamped my tree on a 5x7" piece of Tim Holtz
water color card stock, using the inks above.
Then, because I felt it needed a little something, I
whacked off the left edge, die cut the oval, then added back the slice I'd removed - after slicing off a wee bit more.
Okay, I'm getting there... but something else was off.
aha!  It needed a nice red container, instead of the
navy I'd originally used.  It was easy, stamped it on a scrap, then fussy cut it, and glued it over the top!

I do wish my camera could have captured the sparkle of the
Diamond Stickles I applied to the lights ...

Well.  it seems I have conquered my fears ... even though, now that I look at it,  I may have failed miserably on the CAS part of the challenge!  lol how many times have I done that?

Thanks for the support I've been given by a few blogging friends who nipped that new blogger in the bud from the get-go!  one final test ... getting my card to the CAS Christmas gallery!  oh boy... here goes nothing...

  2. Congrats...you did it! I've been dreading the new blogger, too :) This is such a pretty Christmas tree, Michele! I love all the sparkle and your red pot is fabulous! I also think you've included lots of white space on this card, so it's definitely CAS! Thanks so much for playing along with us at CAS Christmas! Barb xx

  3. I've been learning the new 'wordpress' even though the old one is still there I took the plunge recently... only to discover that there must be at least 2 versions of this lol. Most things are easier (once I got my head round it) but there are still some things that I prefered the 'old' way. good luck with the learning curve, it looks good from here and so does your wonderful card!

  5. Well done you for taking the plunge! I’ve been using the new blogger for a while and, as always, some things are better and some things are worse. But before long we'll all have forgotten the old way anyway 😆
    Great save on the container!

  6. Yikes, New Blogger is that hard and nerve-wracking? Maybe my blogging days are done then. I know you were also being humorous with the play by play, but man, an update should be easy breezy, right? Looks to me like you passed the test with flying colors. I'm so glad I got to see this fantastic card again. You did an outstanding job on it! Thanks so much for sharing and hope you have a wonderful weekend. Hugs!

  8. Oh Michele! I've already sent at least a dozen emails to blogger about all the issues I've encountered with the new platform! Talk about headache..And today, I noticed they took away the old one completely. I sure hope things are resolved quickly!!

As for your card.. it is BEAUTIFUL! I love the distressed look and the it puts me right into the Christmas spirit! Hugs to you, sweet friend! Hang in there!!

  9. I think they way you offset the tree really makes this card. I hated the new Blogger at first and still occasionally find issues with it but for the most part I've gotten comfortable with it. Just wish it hadn't come at the same time as the new FB. LOL!

  13. You go girl! It took me many attempts to get this darned Blogger up and rolling...including losing quite a few posts! So you did well! This tree stamped on the watercolor paper is fantastic! I love the added texture and all of your adjustments made this card something special! Well done! Take care!

  15. YAY...it worked! I did my first post for the new blogger for my Flower Challenge card and it worked fine too...so much better than the first few times I tried it a couple months ago! (I think they've fixed a few things!) Now on to your lovely card...it's absolutely beautiful and I love the red pot! And it also has enough white space to be CAS in my book, so it's all good! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)

  17. Love your CAS Christmas Tree design, Michele...Yes, It is definitely still CAS with your cool techniques. Love your beautiful tree and pot. Wonderful font on the sentiment too. Congrats on making it thru the new Blogger. I started in the beginning with the new Blogger and would switch to the old if I got stuck. I have to say...they have made many little changes that sure have helped. I think they are listening to everyone's issues, which is good. TFS your beauty my friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy

  20. Omedeto~(Congrats), Michele! You made it! :-) I'm one of those who are still trying to get use to the new blogger.
The layout is wonderful and the scored line, the off-the-edge oval & tree, the pop of the red pot, and the sparkle of the lights all make the pot of Christmas tree look fantastic! Thank you so much for playing along with us at CAS Christmas!

  22. I think this card is definitely still CAS. I love the extra interest from the offset image the oval and the way the image seamlessly spills over the oval frame. It is beautifully finished with the sentiment and the embossed line. sorry I can't see the sparkle, I expect that is the ultimate finishing touch xx

  23. Good for you for mastering new blogger Michele! Looks like everything went without a hitch for you! This CAS card is stunning! And yes it is definitely CAS! I love how you have did your tree, a gorgeous tree at that. I definitely need lesson's from you on how to make a card. I love this tree image too, the colors you used for it are perfect-they give your tree dimension. How clever to cut the oval off on the side and add it to the other side of your card! The red pot really does pop and is perfect. Love the sentiment too, it is perfect for this tree. Well done Lady! Hugs, Brenda

  27. Beautiful Christmas tree Michele! I LOVE the red container! And your design is awesome with the oval cut out and strip along the side. Keeping the layers white keeps this a CAS design. Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Christmas. And congrats on your first "new (not improved) blogger" post. xx

  28. Love how you've inked this tree and basket Michele - funny how we use colors and then think, it doesn't look quite right! Usually with me it means a do over! I have this tree and must get it out - a lovely design with your oval and removed and replaced edge! thanks for sharing with us at CAS Christmas!
