Where the Red Fern Grows happens to be among the top ten books I have ever read … btw I was an adult when I read it! I then insisted that all three of my children read it, too. I do hope they've passed it to their own children. Have you read it? Be sure to have a box of tissues handy... I'm very serious about that!
I was so happy to see this favorite, about a boy, his dogs, father/son relationships, sacrifice, and loss, is the chosen book at The Library Challenge #50.
I've had this book cover printed out, on my desk for 10 days. A gift received yesterday from a very dear friend really put the finishing touch to my design - literally! Meet my card...
I so wanted to create the look of dusk. My silhouetted
reeds, and brush were used in lieu of dogs - which I totally would have used if I'd had any!!
These inks, and the old fashioned TH
blending tool/sponges, made it happen.

It sounds like I need to read this book, I have a kindle now which I got for Christmas and am starting to 'collect' books to read and then for the 2 minutes that I am awake when I hit the bed I am enjoying it lol. Your card is the perfect take for this design and that sentiment is TDF! Awesome font and the blended layer is fab too!

As you know, I ADORE your card! I'm going against popular opinion though on the book. I know it's a favorite of many so I read it about four years ago. I felt so bad for the raccoons that I just couldn't embrace the book.

ReplyDeleteFor such a soulful book this accolade seems cheap but I say, winner, winner, chicken dinner, anyway. Your ink blending captures this book jacket perfectly. And the leaves and brush add just the right amount of interest.
ReplyDeleteYes, I too, handed this book onto my four girls and we all ended up with soggy tissues surrounding us, as have all my grandchildren.
