The Flower Challenge - CAS 3rd birthday!

Clean and Simple, a.k.a. CAS design is my favorite style, but often, my opinion of the amount of 'white space' can differ from other's.  In any case, I surely wanted to celebrate The Flower Challenge's 3rd birthday

I feel that white space can have a bit of interest - my favorite way to add it is with texture, which I've done with my favorite SU embossing folder.  Doesn't it provide the most wonderful backdrop for my *Mondo Amaryllis

I've used the coordinating die to inlay the Copic colored image, but lifted just a few petals.  Leaving just one half-inch of the card base plain adds a bit of interest too, don't you agree?  No embellishments, no patterned paper, a simple die-cut sentiment - this says CAS to me!  OH and plenty of white space!

Happiest birthday, TFC!!  Cheers to 20 more!!  xx

  1. Such an interesting topic of what is CAS Michele...And clearly I am no expert....I love the white space that is textured and I know CAS purists would prefer it not to be but I think it adds so much interest and texture and really does not detract from that beautiful amaryllis (I believe it enhances it) ....The amaryllis happens to be my favourite flower x.
A stunning card, so pretty and a stand out card for me x.

  3. As usual...you have devised a seemingly simple (yet brilliant) technique with the inlaid floral and pulled it off flawlessly! This has given me so many ideas that I filled up 3 pages in my sketchbook! Awesome job! : )

  12. this is stunning and yes, so full of interest considering the white space you used. Love the idea of keeping a strip of plain with the textured card stock and lifting just the petals of the flowers is genius. This is Ah-Mazing!

  22. I love the SU embossing folder too, Michele! It adds subtle texture and keeps the card CAS. Your Amaryllis looks exquisite! I don't have Copics but you inspired me to watch the Mindy's video. And "Yes" for leaving the half-inch card base plain! :-)
