Just us Girls #752 & Freshly Made Sketches #661

As it was for many of you, yesterday was a very hard day for me and Tom.  We're having a great deal of difficulty believing the results.*

I was very blessed to have the company of my friend Marcia to help get me through the day - thanks my friend.  More about our playday soon... I promise we did have a good amount of playtime, too.

Today, I got back on that crafty horse and have a few great challenges to thank for that.  I made one card to fit both challenges - it's about all I had in me.

For Just us Girls' Color Week #752 and Freshly Made Sketches #661:

You must recognize my favorite Poinsettia by now: Altenew's Poinsettia 3D die set.

These gorgeous papers are from two HoneyBee collections:
The navy from BEE Bliss, the gold stars from Holiday Wishes.

In this closeup, I've attempted to bring your attention to the 'stitched' details - I don't think I have used a die more than that old MFT Stitched Strip!

Another of those sentiments from my stash - I'm so
happy I prepared so many as they've come in very handy.  This one
is from Pinkfresh Studio's Basic Banners: Christmas and the coordinating die
that cuts them ALL in one go.

I hope I find my smile again... 'til then I thank you for your visit - it will do my heart good.
Michele

*I know there will be some who disagree with my political views - that's okay.  It is America.  Perhaps I shouldn't have even 'aired my opinion' here in a public place.  To paraphrase Leslie: it's my bloggy and I'll blog how I want to.  It's also your right to unfollow me if you choose to do so.  That's okay, too.

  1. I think over here we are feeling nearly as shocked as you are. It is so hard to believe and get your head around, but there is always card making and creating to take us to a happier place. Your card is so pretty. Those papers work really well together xx

  2. Card making has saved me through multiple hard times--and, yes, yesterday was hard. Your poinsettia is stunning--that Altenew die is my favorite holiday die, and the blue background paper is gorgeous! Hang in there, we'll all have work to do in the next few years.

  3. Your card is so elegantly beautiful, gorgeous papers for both the background and Poinsettia! As for the other, I am totally shocked and feel we are in for a scary ride, and how did so many states go red, I just don't believe it! there I said it, now I probably have eggs thrown at me.

  4. Hang in there, Michele and always remember that God will see us through everything. In the mean time, you've created one pretty card to add to our JUGs gallery! You've reminded me that I need to get that poinsettia die out and show it a little love. I don't think I used it last year. Your starry version is marvelous!

  6. This is a wonderful card and I love the non-traditional colours you've used. And yes, even from the other side of the world, we were in a state of shock that this could happen - let alone did happen. This will affect the whole world, in one way or another. I only hope it isn't as bad as a lot of people fear. Hugs to you. PS: Happy to see your card in our FMS gallery as always.

  8. I bought this Altenew die a few years ago due to your influence and now I see that I need pattern paper too! It's one of my favorite dies. Wednesday morning on the road returning from a wonderful get together with two other Harris voting couples that I've known since first grade was hard. I didn't hardly speak to Jim for the first few hours.

  9. I'm still grieving too Michele, and am sooooo glad we had yesterday to spend together and even share a few laughs amidst all the unbelief! But we're tough cookies and we'll get through this with those that believe as we do and of course our shared love of card making! And your card is absolutely STUNNING in the blues and gold! I haven't had my Altenew Poinsettia out yet this year either and need to get crackin! Hang in there my friend...love ya!! Hugs. :0)

  14. Ooh, this is a beautiful reminder that I need to get my die out. Actually I've been thinking about it and others that you caused me to buy, my friend. I'm still in shock and trying to focus on the good around me. I'm glad Marcia could spend the day with you and that I was there in thought. We'll get through this together, my friend. XOXO

  15. There are no words to describe the political craziness of this country right now. I am stunned at the results of the election and worry about the future of our country. I am afraid to think what will happen next…..

  16. It's a gorgeous card with the colors and sketch, Michele! I have to say I got heartsick all over again just now. I'm embarrassed for our country. I could say it's mind boggling how this happened, but with enough money and evil power... I shudder to think what's next. I withdrew to my Golden Retriever Bubble and went on a long hike through the woods and dunes yesterday. Bad thoughts not allowed there. Hugs to all.

  18. I love this card as I do all of your work. I normally just lurk without comment, but wanted to let you know that I, too, am numb from the results.

  20. Michele, I'm so thrilled that you got back on that 'crafty horse' to create a card that I absolutely love. That poinsettia is totally swoon inducing, especially in gold and white. Add it to the deep blue background and the results are stunning. Thank you for sharing this in the JUGS gallery.
For what it's worth, I, too, find myself confounded and dumbfounded by the results. I had high hopes that an individual who epitomizes all the virtues I respect would win. Not the case, unfortunately - and I feel deeply sad for all who feel as you do. Sending you much love (and remember, you're always welcome to move to Canada).
    hugs~c

  22. Beautiful card and interpretation! I love the use of pp for the poinsettia, it adds so much to the already pretty flower. As for your disappointment, I agree with Lisa, that God will get us to anything if we just have faith -- we have all overcome so much

  24. I am late in getting to this post. Last week was so tough on several levels. I could write volumes about how I feel and you already know this. The hate that has been unleashed since 47 started on the journey to be 45 is unfathomable and it is evident everywhere. I choose love, and I LOVE this card of yours. The papers are fabulous as is the piercing on those petals!
