Two fun cards for two fun challenges!

I did indeed have that playday in my studio yesterday... it didn't take long to find the perfect inspiration!

First up, for Color Hues - they always make reaching for colors easier for me!  Julie B. has chosen Lilac and Lime for her combo!  Since I just had used my lilacs, I took those colors in a different direction.  I love stenciling and this Magnolia Pattern from Pinkfresh was calling my name... I took that in a different direction, too!

Take note of the illustration from the package ... notice that some of the florals and leaves are meant to be left as black on white line drawings?  Now take a look at my card on the right - since their stencils didn't color ALL of the florals, I brought out my Copics and finished the job ...

Here are the stenciled florals and inks used:

then, I colored the 'black and white' florals with a few Copics and Ohuhu markers...

Yes, I did add a touch of grey in the background to add to the 'mood.'

After cropping the panel down with a stitched rectangle die, it was mounted on my card base and a simple [Betterpress-ed] sentiment finished my card.  Thanks, Julie!

Thank you, Julie!

My friend Bobby has chosen lilac, peach, and GRAY for their color challenge at Just us Girls #725... thank you, Bobby!  I couldn't imagine how pretty these colors would be together until I saw what you and your team did with them... then this CAS card happened...

The Stamp Market's Bloomin' Cute die set, and a sentiment from ASD's Tulips Treasure white heat-embossed on grey, cut with an ancient, pierced circle die from MFT that could be one of the first essential sets I ever purchased!
[That woodgrain paper is from Ellen Hutson - no longer available, but I think Altenew has some like it.]

Before you go!!! I have a fun celebration to share tomorrow! Don't forget to come back!!  There could be a prize!!!  Just sayin'!

  11. I actually like your version of the PFS stamp better, Michele, and what a great job you did coloring in the extra parts the stencil didn't cover. Your CAS card is as cute as can be. Thanks for sharing it with us at Just Us Girls.

  12. Beautiful! I love the color combos for both cards and what fun to put your own spin on the magnolia stencil. Those darling sweet flowers and CAS card are extra adorable! I have a fair amount of the wood grain cardstock, but I tend to hoard it. What am I thinking? You've reminded me how amazing it looks on a card!

  17. I've just come from a visit to Darnell's watercolour take on this set Michele, two totally different looks from this one set but equally stunning. I must be on the lookout for this set when I next visit a stamp fayre! It's such a gorgeous image it really doesn't need anything else but your simple sentiment to shine. Thanks for making my Color Hues combo sing. :)

  18. Michele, Two beautiful floral cards! The simplicity of the second one surely brings you in and your first card for Color Hues is just gorgeous. I like that you added more color instead of leaving the leaves white. Thanks for being in our gallery at Color Hues.

  19. Girl, you don't need ANY lessons from me, quite the opposite! What you do with stamps and coloring leaves me in awe! But, wow, we were seriously in step, weren't we, right down to sharing the way the set is "meant" to be used and ending with, "not us, nope, we want to color the whole shebang!" I love it! And when I did a search for the stamp on your blog it also brought up the SPECTACULAR card you made - well, two! - while borrowing Marcia's stamp! I cannot make my colored pencils do that!! (They never went past the 8th grade, I guess.) That is my favorite version I've ever seen and kismet to the max getting it with a winning discount!! What will we channel next ...? Big hugs, D.
