I might have been able to 'edit to add' my reminder card for The Flower Challenge to the Color Hues #68 gallery yesterday - oh no! I went right back into my studio and came up with a new card ... and a different way to add these gorgeous colors from Nancy!
Yes. I did get a new toy... by the time it arrived I had watched every video available so the 'how to' would be embedded in my brain! But I didn't see anyone adding TWO colors to those Spellbinders' Betterpress plates... each color was added separately in case you're wondering. The paper is taped in place [on the back side] so it's easy to send the whole thing through to be pressed a second, third, or fourth time!
Wish you could feel the dimension of that 'letterpress' - a closeup might help.
There was ONE little misstep in my process which was the cause for my fussy cutting today - but turns out it was a happy mistake...
Altenew mini-ink cubes worked perfectly - until I dropped one - twice! No worries, I used that clean corner for my sentiment!
I know it seems like I just have to have every new toy under the sun - not all new toys play well but this one was a winner right out of the gate!
There might be 'second helpings' soon - you're playing too, right?

I do love that letterpress look. It will be a while before I get one, so I will just have to feast on your creations to keep me happy. Well done for using the different colours. The end result is stunning and yes, I think your little ink blunder turned out to be a happy accident too xx
ReplyDeleteOh my...this is absolutely GORGEOUS with the two colors Michele, and I'm so excited for mine to come!! I think it's coming tomorrow...YAY!! You did an awesome job with the fussy cutting and the whole card is just SO pretty!! Sounds goofy, but I just want to touch it and feel the pressed part!! Lovely, lovely card my friend and I can't wait to see 2nd helpings!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteHmmm... well, it looks like it could slip right under my MIST on the lower shelf. I may have to watch some videos. My main issue is usually finding room for toys like this. Your accident was happy indeed as it helped produce such a pretty card. I love the look of this, Michele!
ReplyDeleteLove the deep impressed look you get with the Letterpress, it's on my wish list, and the sentiment looks so crisp and sets the whole card off to a tee!
ReplyDeleteGiovanni is indeed a bit of a dish, whilst Anton is favoured by ladies of a certain age, plenty of which were in the audience yesterday! Personally, I prefer Gio, but don't tell the OH! ;) I wasn't sure if it was going to be my cup of tea but the afternoon went by in the blink of an eye so it must have captured my interest!! Thanks for joining in at Color Hues too! :)
Well this is a brilliant use of the colors!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful results with your new toy, Michele! Love how you've used these colors and the depth of the press and saturation of color! Can't wait to see more helpings, my friend!
ReplyDeleteI'm still oohing and aahing over the first helping and you're telling me there's more to come! This is pretty and I love it with the two colors. We need to talk about this new toy and I need to check out some videos!
ReplyDeleteI didn't wait either. Once I saw Nancy's, I ordered one. It's come and the very first run-through was perfect. Haven't tried different colors yet, but yours is wonderful. The fussy cutting was worth it--great design! Life here has been busy so crafting time has been at a premium. Hoping to get back to play with this again tomorrow. Thanks for adding this beauty to the Color Hues gallery!
ReplyDeleteWonderful use of the new toy, your card is very pretty! Glad you could show others the ropes on how to do something out of the ordinary
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Michele! I love how you used the two colors on this beautifully impressed image. I struggle with buying new toys because of my lack of space. I'll just enjoy seeing all the wonderful things you and Marcia make.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new toy. It helps make a gorgeous card! Have fun, my friend. :)
ReplyDeleteMichele, Happy accidents are the best and it appears we both were fortunate to have one using this system. I love the two colors and I really like how you covered up your oops with the fun layout. I certainly think they should come out with a matching die for these florals. Awesome job with my colors at Color Hues, always happy to have you in the gallery to start! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI have been very curious about this new toy, but not looked into it much because I am trying to avoid it. Just like you to do something fabulous and make me want it. This is gorgeous, and what a wonderful way to use these colors...
ReplyDeleteThe close-up really shows the texture you get with the letterpress. Michele. Being able to use two colors makes it a better tool to me and makes a beautiful card for you.
ReplyDeleteTwo-toned letterpress! How clever and beautiful! I really need to get familiar with my Betterpress and maybe I'll start to love it. At the moment I'm a bit on the fence - mainly because you can't Copic colour with the Archival ink, but I need to try some Copic friendly ink and see if that works.
ReplyDeleteOk... on a scale of 1-10, just how badly do I need this Betterpress? Between you and Nancy I may cave soon. This is fabulous and I love how you used two colors! Thanks for playing with Color Hues, Michele!
ReplyDeleteMichele, this is GORGEOUS. It really stands out and your new toy was money well spent.
ReplyDeleteOh Michele, how fun you got the Betterpress! Your card is simply gorgeous! I would love to run my fingers over that pressing that I can definitely see in your photo's. You got such a great impression and the inks are beautiful. Oops to dropping the ink cube. LOL But I agree, a happy accident as I love this flower cut out and then placed on your card. Just beautiful! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteYou absolutely deserve a new toy, Michele! :-) This is gorgeous, and I love the look of the letterpress! The off-the-edge design with the fussy-cut flowers is unique and wonderful. Looking forward to seeing many more of your letterpress cards!
ReplyDeleteHideko xx
Michele you are always one of the first entries! These flower done with your new Betterpress plates are so lovely! Thanks for joining us at the Color Hues!
