I'm happy to have a little crafty time today - the Peace on Earth Christmas challenge #32 had me pulling out a very old set from Papertrey Ink called Winter Woods. That's where I found this cute little Bluejay! I did a little second generation stamping with Catherine Pooler's Drive In ink but still felt it wasn't quite right - oh well, there's no mistaking him for any other bird in my Winter woods!
I masked him before adding the branches, then used a blade to cut out his tail so I could
add a little dimensional foam under it.
My friend LeAnne's Paper Players PP624 post this morning helped me find her a wonderful home.
goodness these are gorgeous
ReplyDeleteLooks like a bluebird nestled into those pine branches to me! And your warbler is perched on a perfectly layered layered CAS card! Two beauties, my friend!
ReplyDeleteAck, I love these both so much! Your Blue Jay looks exactly perfect to me. Cool looking branches. You did a fantastic job on that! Then you have a second card -- I'm beside myself! That is the sweetest stamp set and your bird just melts my heart. I love your style, Michele!
ReplyDeleteThese are such beautiful 'winter' birthday cards Michele! Loving the 'Harper-ish' look in the first one and the clever way you popped up the tail for dimension!
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful cards! I recognize the first stamp set, in fact I just made a card with it today! It appears birds are in order, and you've worked wonders with these two
ReplyDeleteI recognize the blue jay for sure, but am impressed that you knew the name of the other sweet bird! Your cards are just lovely. You really have some wonderful stamps and dies to help create beautiful cards. The border on the white mat on the second card is so pretty. So many great details, Michele. Thanks so much for sharing. Have a wonderful day. Crafty hugs!
ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful! I LOVE both of your birds! That doily diecut and your sweet little branch on the second one just makes me SMILE! That little birdie looks quite at home there! Thanks for playing with us!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Bluejay card! Thank you for sharing with us at Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge.
ReplyDeleteA fabulous Blue Jay in the greens, Michele! He looks so bright and beautiful! Your sweet warbler is just as lovely and I love your lacy die cut! Just a note fits the bill for all kinds of cards.
ReplyDeleteMr. Jay looks mighty happy perched among those berried branches, Michele. You know I love birds and that little warbler may have to come home with me. You've shown her off beautifully with all those layers.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these cards are FABULOUS Michele! I absolutely LOVE your Bluejay card using the Winter Woods set...I haven't used that stamp set in sooooo long and you've made me remember why I loved it so much! I love how you made the tail stick up a bit and the sentiment embossed on the red cardstock really pops on this lovely, lovely card! Your 2nd card is just as BEAUTIFUL, and I think the snowflakes and Just A Note sentiment are perfect for Winter birthdays too! You outdid yourself with both of these cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteLove the birds on both cards, and Just a note and thinking of you are the best front sentiments as the inside can say the reason why. Love.
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous bird cards! I love the pops of gray in your second card, because, well, gray :)
ReplyDeleteOh Michele these are both just beautiful! I love how that bluejay just POPS off the page on your first card and I simply love the overall design on your second card ... the lacy panel is a beautiful touch! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Peace On Earth challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often. We appreciate your support!

Wow Michele, your Blue Jay card is gorgeous! I love the fun branches with the red berry's against the stark white of your card base. Looks just like it should after a snow fall and your Blue Jay looks great to me, he is standing out against the "snow" and the foliage perfectly just like in real life! I love it!!! I am loving your little gray and yellow bird as well! A another beautiful card, loving the colors of yellow and gray. The is a beautiful border you have on the white too. Both cards are really beautiful my sweet friend! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty blue jay perched in those pines and your lovely warbler looks so pretty in the soft colors and the lovely lacy die cut. TFS
ReplyDeleteI just live your attention to detail! The birds are gorgeous! Beautiful cards!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute blue jay, perching on the geometric pine branches, Michele! The blue pops beautifully, and the dimension of the tail is a wonderful touch. The warbler looks so fluffy and sweet! Love the color combo and the layered design too. You do know a lot about birds!

Hello, Michele! Both of your cards are beautiful, but I really like the little yellow and gray bird. Your layout with the doily overlaid on the gold stock is particularly attractive. Thank you for playing along with us at The Paper Players. Xoxo, Fran
