I've already represented the Poinsettia as my favorite Christmas bloom, but today I have another that equates to the holiday, in my mind - besides her gorgeous Christmas cacti blooming, my mom grew one bulb every year! Have you guessed?
Why it's the Amaryllis of course!

Today I've colored this Mondo Amaryllis as a Royal Velvet variety, in deep rich reds.
I love finding photos on the internet to use as my inspiration.

ReplyDeleteHow absolutely gorgeous, and a perfect floral Christmas card. I always gave one to my mother after Thanksgiving so she could watch it grow as the season unfolded. She was an avid gardener, and this always made her so happy. Thanks for the heart strings tug with your beautiful creation.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Michele! My son-in-law gave me an amaryllis this year and I have enjoyed it tremendously. I wish I'd taken a picture of it when all four blossoms were open. I've lost two but it's still beautiful - white with red edges.
