Here is our first Sketch of 2020 … and the inspiration for my first Christmas card for 2020, too!
Yes, I'm making a New Year resolution - this year's cards [besides a few birthday cards] will ALL go to Bring Smiles to Seniors, a non-profit organization who makes sure our elders in nursing care aren't forgotten! One of the saddest stories I've ever heard was shared with me by my local BStS volunteer - a worker at one of the nursing homes she delivers cards to shared that some of those sweet souls are 'dropped off' and never again have a visitor! It breaks my heart!
Okay... are you ready for Christmas card #1?
I have been so blessed to have won many prizes on Instagram … mostly because of the generosity of the friends I've made there. These papers are a few of those I won from Alexandra Renke last year - aren't they gorgeous?? I took advantage of the placement of my Wplus9 Merry die cut … see if you see what I saw …
Inside:
Celebrate every single day of the New Year!!!
May I take advantage of this post to wish each and every one of my sweet friends a very Happy, healthy, New Year!
=] Michele
A Happy and Healthy New Year to you too Michele x. What sad words at the beginning of your post x. Congratulations on your winnings and wonderful placement of the die cut on your contemporary and fabulous card x.
ReplyDeleteYou're off and running for 2020, doing good deeds and sharing your talent. Love these papers especially when enhanced by the strategically placed sentiment (clever girl). Does BStS only take Christmas cards or are others accepted? I have such a lot of them I'd like to share.
ReplyDeleteHappy and prosperous New Year to you and your Mate. Personally, I'd rather be in Sydney on the first next year, that is, unless it's burnt up by then.
What a stroke of luck on that PP. I do spy your surprise. Fab card and its horrid that our elders aren't revered.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you, Michele. I love your card, and the placement of the merry is a very happy little accident. Your story about the older people just getting dropped off is so sad. I remember one place I worked someone was literally dumped in the clothes she stood up in and had to be found emergency accommodation. Big hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteI just love how your mind works! Fun surprise! Papers are fabulous......perhaps I should join Instagram?
ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtful gesture...and a BEAUTIFUL card! Love it!

Beautiful! Loving those papers (and wondering if I have them...LOL!) But I just can't bring myself to do Christmas right now. Too.Many.Snowmen. bwahahaha.
ReplyDeleteI did some caroling at an Assisted Living Facility before Christmas and it was sooooo fun. I'm definitely going to make it a tradition.

ReplyDeleteWOW! Nothing like starting 2020 off with a fantastic Christmas card, Michele! Love the gray and white papers with that gorgeous red merry! Love, love, love this!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR!!
ReplyDeleteLove you card, so pretty and well done. I love the cause you mentioned, I've seen it first hand when my in-laws were in a nursing home. A card can brighten anyone's day and I'm sure yours will bring much joy and happiness.
xx Karen
It's hard telling what you saw because your mind works like no other my friend, but I'm absolutely LOVING the card! Those papers are wonderful...what a great gift!! And I've made a resolution to be sending more cards to the seniors too and already have another stash started! Are you feeling better yet?? Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great resolution, Michele. I know I've gotten positive comments on the cards I send to my church members. Those papers work beautifully together and how wonderful that the 25 was in just the right position to be highlighted.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant design Michele! you amaze me!!
ReplyDeleteHappy, healthy New Year to you, too, my friend! I really LOVE this beautiful CAS design, Michele! Your choice of papers is absolutely perfect, and I love the contrast of the deep rich red! it's so sad how we treat our elderly, so I'm sure the recipient of this card is going to feel very special when they receive it!
