Inspired By #88 ... Fall is near

Fall is near … but there are still a few lovely days of Summer to celebrate!  There is a certain end-of-Summer bloom I love the most … it's the one I've chosen for my Inspired By #88 card!

My splattered sunflower is an ages-old Poppy Stamps die
called Bountiful Sunflower.

That background is WAY out of my comfort zone, but it turned out pretty cool, right?  I used my smooshing technique again with Scattered Straw, Wild honey, and Carved pumpkin Oxides, and applied them to a water color card panel until I saw the field and leaves in the photo represented.  A tree circle stencil was used to apply Vintage photo ink as a stand in for that fun farm implement - does anyone recognize it?  Hay baler?  Thrasher?  who knows?

I sure hope you'll play along this week - how is Fall showing up around your house?

  1. Wow! This is terrific, Michele. Out of my comfort zone too, but quite compelling and pretty to look at. I don't know the name of the machine you are referring to, but I see it represented well. Thanks so much for sharing and being willing to stretch yourself. Bravo!

  3. You've hit that background perfectly, Michele, and the tree circle perfectly represents that rake. I think it's a tedder that picks up the hay after it's been cut so it dries. It brings back memories of helping in the hay field.

  6. I love your background, even if it was out of your comfort zone (which I find hard to believe, LOL!). If my dad was still alive, he could tell us what that farm implement was....I miss him so much! Love your card, it's warm and thoughful!

  8. *GASP*. You nailed the colors of that background and it was brilliant of you to use the tree cross section to emulate the roundness of the wheels. But let's talk about that gorgeous sunflower die. So intricate and graceful...a pure beauty.

  10. I don't know what that is but I'd love to add it to my other 'yard art'. You represented it beautifully with that stencil and I adore your "uncomfortable" background.
