AEIHeartUChallenge - Think Pink!

Challenge 29

I've lost one sister to cancer ... but happily have one other, and a few 'sistahs', who have won their own personal battles!  Today I'd like to celebrate all those wonderful wins with my card for the Think Pink challenge at Avery Elle:

I've used one of the gorgeous acetate panels from PinkFreshStudio, placed over a rectangle cut from my card base.  I then backed it with dotted vellum, added a die cut 'thankful' and added the finishing touch with the gorgeous flowers and leaves - all Avery Elle Laurels and dies!

Here's a better look at the see-through panel, and flowers:

... and the most perfect inside sentiment, also from Laurels:

Those are the wins I'm thoroughly thankful for, and tickled PINK about

  1. I didn't know you lost a sister to this awful disease Michele. I'm sorry to hear that. My grandmother, my dad's mom, lost her battle with breast cancer when he was just 15. I wish I had known her. Your card is extra special and extra pretty too!! Love it ;)

  4. Oh Michele!! I am so sorry that you lost your sister to cancer. It is such an awful disease. My mother died from ocular melanoma when I was 23. It was one of the worst things to happen in my whole life. You never get over losing a family member.

Your card is stunning. I love all the small touches. The vellum, the acetate, (which is in my cart at sb.com just waiting for me to pay!!!) and those pretty flowers. I think my favorite is the sentiment inside. STUNNING design!!

  10. Michele, so sorry about your sister. Cancer is a horrifying disease, watching a loved one struggle and succumb is a very difficult thing to do and live with. Hugs.

I always look at the cards first and put them together in my mind before reading the post...you had me perplexed with the acetate. Fabulous touch.

  14. Your card breathes sweetness (not too pink either). Which is such a dramatic contrast to the ugliness of cancer...

The acetate panel is something new to me; I'll be keeping an eye out for them next time I'm in a 'real' crafting store. Love the pink panels; love the flowers. And yes: thankful is such a powerful word, as in: I am THANKFUL for you!
