Father's Day was celebrated on Sunday, June 21st here in the States. My own Dad has been gone many years, but today's theme actually brought my British great-grandfather to mind. He served his Queen in the Royal Army ... and in the 1800's they travelled by ship from one station to the next.
I am a total land-lubber, haven't got [never had] sea-legs! So I took my inspiration from the line drawings on the walls, those yummy stripes on the chair, and the gold of the pillow:
A close-up might help today with the bright white =]
Hope to see you in the gallery this week... will the Nautical theme inspire you? Speaking of inspired, Hayley Kew is our guest this week ... wait until you see what she and my mates have created... awesome! They certainly make me...

ReplyDeleteWow Michele, I am loving your take on the inspiration photo! I'm glad you put the close up in too because I didn't see those lovely white on white stripes, I love it! I love hat vellum too and the "dad" in gold. How cool about your great-grandfather, how cool that you know about him. I know very little about my family, so I think it is so cool when other's do! Hugs, Brenda

ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. I love the way the vellum looks on this card!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous Blueprints card, Michele. Love how that vellum overlay softens the image and allows the DAD diecut to stand out!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this! So serenely clean! I love your 'map work ' on that vellum too. Can feel it flapping in the salty ocean air too! Lovely...!
ReplyDeleteHi there, I'm Coni from Which Craft? and you asked if the kids stamp was still available. Honestly, I really don't know and I don't know it's name. It's very OOOOOOOld, a wooden stamp, from "100 Proof Press". I don't even know if they're still in business. So sorry. You had such kind words on my card and I can't even help you find the stamp. I feel terrible, but not enough to give up my stamp. As I said, it's a keeper. I could stamp a bunch off for you and send them to you, though. Let me know if that will suffice.
ReplyDeleteThis is super cool and such a perfect design for a man! Love it! Hugs, Karin

ReplyDeleteMichele, this is one of the most beautiful FD cards I have seen, lately!!!! It is a masterpiece and I love every little thing about it!!! That piece of vellum surely looks like it is blowing in a gentle sea breeze!!!! I love the embossed horizontal strips and the sentiment is just so special and looks fab in the navy blue!!!! What a fantastic take on the inspiration photo!!!! Beautiful!!! Loved the story of your great-granddad!!!
Wonderful card with such a classy touch on it!! Love that vellum!
ReplyDeleteNautical amazing, Michele! Other than one anchor die, my nautical-themed collection is non-existent. May have to remedy that, given all the 'ocean' inspiration that pops up over the summer. Guess I *have* to do more shopping...
