Theme time this week - what better time to thank those hard working people in our lives? Teachers!! My kids had many who had a great influence in their lives. I did, too!
Enter your inspiration photo:
Mrs. VanderVeen - my fourth, fifth, and sixth grade teacher! Yes, she followed my class three years running! [Poor thing!] I loved her so much, at school I often called her "mom" and at home, I called my mom "Mrs. VanderVeen!"
For my favorite teacher, and The Challenge #36:
So happy to use this gorgeous PTI stamp again, this time colored with a few Spectrum Noire markers and poised upon a cute chalkboard patterned paper. Found just the perfect little scrap of #2 pencil-orange for the banner... and the sentiments are from my newest Technique Tuesday stamp botanical set ... more from that beauty another day.
Thanks for the visit... did you have a teacher that had a special place in your heart? I'd love to here about her/him!

ReplyDeleteYour card is fabulous, Michele! I love it! Great take on the inspiration photo!
This is just gorgeous. Love the contrast between your chalkboard background and that beautifully colored vellum flower. We are definitely in teacher thanks mode here, especially as my oldest thinks back over her high school years as her graduation approaches.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is just gorgeous, Michele! So happy you have such wonderful memories of a fantastic teacher! That touches my heart. I taught for 27 years! I just love this beautiful flower and the patterned papers and sentiment are perfect! XX
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Michele! That flower and the sentiment strip--awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card and a beautiful story, I'll bet she was pleased to have you as a student 3 years in a row too!
ReplyDeleteThis sunflower is gorgeous Michele, fabulous card! I adored my second grade teacher Miss Petch! She would often give my best friend and I old teachers manuals/books for us to take home to play school! She read "The Boxcar Children" to us a few pages a day at the end of the day. That book is still a favorite because of her! One of my 6th grade teachers, on the other hand, irked me LOL!! She would call me by my brother's name who had her TWO years before me!! Crazy old bat LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteYour sunflower is gorgeous! it really pops against the dark background. And I love how you did the sentiment. Great touch to add the orange strip!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful! The entire design is awesome:)
ReplyDeleteOh now that is just so beautiful Michele.
ReplyDeleteGracious, this sure is a pretty card!!! I love that sunflower and the way you colored it Michele. The heart pattern paper is perfect and that pop of orange for your banner just pulls it all together. The sentiment, you can't get any better than that! I don't remember having a teacher that I adored in school, but I do remember a teacher in high school that I thought was so cute and funny. She was a stenographer teacher, close to retirement age or so she looked, but she dressed to the "T" everyday with everything matching. Her earrings, her shoes, her purse to her outfit, it all matched. And when she was teaching us shorthand, she would give us tips about keep ourselves "de-fuzzed". lol She was a hoot and I enjoyed her class even though I was terrible at shorthand! I am left handed you see and that dang spiral that held the notebooks together got in my way. So I flipped the notebook, but I didn't get any better. Shorthand just wasn't my thing. lol Hugs, Brenda
