However, after Marcia left, I suddenly spotted a die-cut snippet [Altenew's Leafy Garland] that had been in the background all day... I had a bit of a smooshing play with it. Can you find my colorful butterfly? It was hand drawn and cut from vellum, and the body from kraft. Her wings were 'colored' with that little snippet I mentioned:
After taking my photographs [an insurance policy on what might have turned out to be a disaster!!] I decided to color it a bit more... tell me, which do you like better? The simple CAS one above, or this color-added one? That sweet little Gerbera wanted a little attention!
I was so happy that my 'kids' performed nicely for their visitor to their own little house - 5 boys, 3 girls bloomed!
Off it goes to the gallery … I've another deadline to meet! This time for CAS Mix Up! There was another snippet that I really almost threw away - Marcia convinced me to try, try again - so I did! For Loll... stamping, die cut, and paper towel ...
By the way... after I glued that paper towel down to a piece of white card stock, and then die cut it, I had lost the wonderful texture of the paper toweling. Guess what? If you give it a fine mist of water? It reappears!
One more … this time for The Flower Challenge's Favorite Flower!
Though I carried white tulips at our wedding, the Gerbera Daisies decorating our tent and tables were my favorite of the day…
Uniko Gerbera - Altenew butterfly
Okay... that's it for me [thank goodness, right?] I'm off to drop these into their appropriate gallery!
Happy weekend, my friends!

Three awesome cards, Michele, or should I say four? I love the big freehand cut butterfly from vellum with that sweet spray of flowers! I actually like the plain leaves and flower better because it makes the spray of flowers really stand out. The spray of flowers cut from the paper towel worked beautifully and that butterfly is so perfect tucked in the curve! Thanks for the tip on getting the texture back in the towel after die cutting. Your last card is my favorite with the colored gerbera and butterfly. I love the texture of the watercolor paper and the colors you've used. Thanks so much for sharing these with us at CAS Watercolour and CAS Mix Up!
Please just let me pick my jaw up from the ground, these are all incredibly wonderful and I can even begin to try and pick a favourite... I'm going back for another peek!
You are spoiling us today Michele. What a fabulous trio of the most beautiful and creative cards.
Love card number one and I love it without the added colour on it....It is truly unique and the most stunning card x.
Card number two is so very pretty and what delicate colours. The technique looks fabulous and thank you for the tip about misting the die cut x.
Card number three is stunningly beautiful and the gerbera is so very pretty ....as is the butterfly and splats x.
What a creative lady you are and all three deserve a frame around them....Thank you for joining in The CAS Mix up with the amazing card number two x
Where to begin? You've put your butterflies and Gerbera daisies to marvelous use. All of your leftover snippets have become treasures! These are pure prettiness Michele!
You have completely outdone yourself with these GORGEOUS cards, Michele! Your watercoloring is so pretty...such a beautiful palette, and I really love your butterflies! Like Therese, I had to take a moment to pick my jaw up off the ground...I'm so impressed with your talents, my friend!!!
So beautiful!
Stunning creations Michelle... Love the designs!
Thanks for sharing lots of butterflies and pretty Gerbera daisies today :)! Love all the soft colors on your cards and the splatters on the third one! The vellum butterfly wing of the first card is so gorgeous! What a great design! I'm drawn to the uncolored one as it shows the pretty garland better. But both are pretty! Have a wonderful weekend <3 !
What a stimulating session of crafting. I love them all Michele. These colours are all amazingly rich. I love the second butterfly, the colours are so complimentary and the pastel tone doesn't steal the show. A little spritz will bring paper towel texture back to life, isn't a little water amazing LOL, thanks for the tip!! A busy girl with a wild mind to create, I love them all. Thanks for joining us at CAS Mix Up! xx
Such loveliness! What a graceful snippet, in wonderful colors. Thanks for sharing these!
Oh my goodness gracious, Michele. This post is filled to the brim with butterfly beauties! Wow! I love each and every single detail on each card. So, so very pretty! I'm so happy you got to play with your friends! And that one got to see your "kids" do their thing. Sounds like you've had an amazing week! Hugs!
You are one clever butterfly mama! I love your originality. I can’t believe you still have babies blooming. That’s so awesome.
Looks like I might be in the minority...while the classic clean lines of the first card are perfection; my color loving heart is taken by the second butterfly with the ethereal coloring. Your paper towel card had a lovely blend of colors and the white space really pops. YOur butterfly and gebera are sweet reminders of summer with those lucious colors. A day or two well spent.
Oh my gosh girl...I'm loving them all!!! I love, LOVE the CAS perfection of the 1st card, but love all the added color to the 2nd card too! I am so glad you did not throw that flower spray away as that card is GORGEOUS!! And good to know about the spritzing bringing the texture back on the paper towel!! Your last card is my favorite IF I had to pick one...that Gerbera Daisy is SOOOO pretty my friend and I love the added butterfly too! Thanks so much for sharing all these beauties Michele...we love seeing your artistry at work at CAS Watercolour!! :0)
Holy moley, girl, what a bevy of beautiful butterflies and florals. Amazing results on cuttin your own flutterby. It's beautiful cutting...my CAS card was captured with the first one but the second looks very different and I loved that, too. Who knew paper toweling would retexture if spritzed...not I, but I probably should have known. After all they are always in my kitchen. Of course, gerberas continue to be a treat...so linear and colorful, almost graphic in that sunburst way.
Glad to hear your babies performed beautifully for Marcia. I'm sure she was as thrilled as I would have been.
Oh my!! What STUNNING cards!! I love your fun smooshing and the color treatments you gave on the first card. GENIUS way to use that die. I love the second one with the actual use of the paper towel. I would have just thrown that away!! The third is my FAVORITE though. I LOVE the pretty colors you painted the Gerbera daisy and your ink splatters. Sounds like you had fun. I need to come play!!
Wow, Michele. You were really on a roll. Every one of those cards is a beauty. Decorating the butterfly with the garland was a stroke of genius and while I do a lot of CAS I prefer the one with more color to it. I love all the colored splatters on the daisy card. Thanks for sharing that one with us at The Flower Challenge.
Beautiful cards, Michele, and I tend to like the first of the two cards but the gerbera does need color! Thus, the final gerbera made me very happy! They are all wonderful tho!
A stunning Fourfer, M! I do that thing, too, of taking an insurance photo. I have to say in this case I do like the first one better where the butterfly's wings are white and she has no competition with the flower. It's truly brilliant and the fact that you created this design freehand out of your own creative imagination makes it even cooler! Your paper towel floral spray is so pretty and I love the movement it creates! Thanks for the remisting tip. Finally, wow, what a lovely job of painting you did on your Gerbera daisy and butterfly card! Love the matching schplatters! And I'm very jelly that you got to spend the day with Marcia and another other days with another mystery friend! Lucky you!! Hugs, D
Wow, what a gorgeous collection of butterfly cards, Michele! I can feel so much love of your butterflies from these cards. I LOVE the pretty flower "patterned" butterfly most! It just has so much impact. Did you also hand-draw and cut the butterfly body?
The translucent vellum wings and the subtle white-on-white Garbera highlight the beauty of the spray of flowers and add different texture.
The colorful cards are all lovely and I'm so glad that you didn't throw away the snippet of the #2 card (pic 3). The soft pink and yellow are super pretty and the design is wonderful. Love the color matching spatters of the #3 card (pic 4), echoing the Garbera and the butterfly.
Thanks so much for sharing the tip on getting the texture back in the towel after die cutting, and joining us at CAS Mix Up!
Hideko xx
Jaw droppingly gorgeous, Michele ... all of them, that includes the without and with added colour freehand butterfly! They're dreamy, delicate, fresh and oh so lovely ... like a soft breeze on a summer day! Hugs, Anita :)
Three amazing cards Michele!! Great job creating your own large butterfly. The colourful vine looks amazing as it's adornment. So creative and beautiful!! Looks amazing with the extra colouring as well. But you know me, CAS all the way! :) Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour. BTW ... so jealous of you and Marcia having a play day ... wish I could have been there!
Your second card with the paper towel sprig is AMAZING! Love it! And so pretty with the butterfly. Glad it worked for you this time! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
And your third card is goregous with the gerbera daisy and butterfly (I see a theme! :) Another great card with beautiful summery colours. xx
Goodness, love every one of these beauties! And your hand done butterfly is amazing. Both versions (uncolored and colored) are stunning! And the Gerbera daisy is those luscious colors is so sweet. You know how I love butterflies so this is one of my favorite posts.
