The Paper Players #740 with Jan

Dear Jan,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to use this wonderful mailer from our West Michigan Symphony!  I've had it tucked away in a safe space for just such an occasion!

We received this mailer at least 4 years ago and honestly, I kept it as inspiration
for a card made with some of my 'seafaring' supplies - but I think it was
the perfect time to fussy cut and use it for Jan's challenge at The Paper Players:

First, I cut it at the center fold... then fussy cut the horizon and sailboats
from the front panel to layer over the back panel.
I used that old MFT banner die to cut the 'SAIL AWAY.'

After trimming and adding foam tape for a bit of 3D action, it all came together:

You had to know I wouldn't let that helm and anchor go to waste, right?

I'm thrilled with the results - hope you like it, too!  Off it sails to PP#740!

I couldn't be happier to have my recycled card become Jan's Headliner!!
Thanks so much, Jan!

  3. Oh, isn't it fun to do something like this? I absolutely love your much improved result! So much depth and color and fun! We'll all be looking through our schtuff now. I have enjoyed making use of the things I've saved many times, but I think it's extra cool that you used only what was already there and just rearranged it to make it so very interesting! Beautifully done, Michele!

  15. I am absolutely thrilled with the way this card came out too Michele...it is an absolute beauty!! I can't believe you saved that mailer for 4 years and then were still able to find it! (You're definitely waaaaaay more organized than I am!) I just love the way the 2 pieces overlapped to form the more detailed water scene and the banner finished off the card to perfection! FABULOUS card my friend!! Hugs. :0)

  20. Dear Michele, thank you for taking up my recycling challenge with such panache! Firstly, this is the best use of a mailer I've seen but secondly - it's just the nicest mailer I've ever seen! I'd have kept it too, not just because of the musical connection but because I like the art deco vibe of this gorgeous seascape. You've made amazing use of it -well worth four years of drawer space, in my opinion. :-)
